5/28/15: GDT - Atlanta Braves @ SF Giants *NOT Dodgers* (Cunningham gets a start!)

Uribe's range noticeably better than than CJ / Bert, but he really needs to let some of these balls go through to Simba. It's a problem we're not used to having.

CJ had a -13 DRS last year at third while Uribe had a 17 DRS, so Uribe was 30 DRS better than Chris Johnson last year alone. That is how bad Chris Johnson is and how much better Uribe is than him.

To look at Uribe, you wouldn't guess he'd be that quick. Foot speed doesn't seem good, but his lateral quickness is eye-opening.

He is absolutely insane right now. Is there any chance he forces a call up this year? He's raking. He looks like a total steal.

If he keeps it up I could see him being promoted to AAA at mid-season. And I expect him to be ready to start in CF in 2016 in Atlanta.

That's just Mallex. The dude has always hit like this.

Yea but the Padres didn't think he was for real when they made the trade. I mean they saw him as 4th outfielder material. I wonder if his success so far in AA is making them re-think that. If not then I just simply disagree with them.

A great defender at first or third can make an infield defense nearly airtight. I think of how "bulletproof" the infield defenses were for the Mets when they had Keith Hernandez or John Olerud at first. I don't think Uribe's in that class but combine his added range to what we already have with Simba, Peterson, and Freeman and our infield defense could be pretty salty. Chip and Joe keep commenting that Uribe should leave those balls alone for Simmons. However, it's always been a baseball maxim that a third baseman should cut off any ball that he can (regardless how good the SS is) because he's got a better angle and a shorter throw to first base than does the shortstop.

Chip: "And boy Shelby continues to pitch EEEK-anomically for the Braves."

What's he tweakin' on now?

Chip: "... the alliteration-trio for the Giants."

Ok, so he swallowed a handful of dexedrine last inning.

It was only because he was in hitter friendly parks remember?

Guy has to be a top 100 prospect right now.

I'm sure we will hear 100 reasons he's not even a top-200 prospect from some people, but he's really gottabe top-100. dude can just hit.

Heston is parting our lineup like it's the Red Sea.

Shelby absolutely rolling again. Only 1 K, but plenty of grounders (again).
He's still young and improving.

Peraza and Smith should be a fun tandem at the top of our order.

Hopefully the organization loosens up on their baserunning philosophies. If they don't attempt 50 steals apiece next year then we are nerfing one of their top skills

If Smith keeps up this pace in AA, I'll have a lot more faith in his ability to stick offensively in MLB than Peraza's.

#Braves Fredi asked rhetorically, why keep Peraza, who's close to being ready, at 2B when Peterson has emerged as solid young player there?
