#66 GDT Friday the 13th: BRAVES (Harang) vs. ANGELS (CJ Wilson), 7:40

Thats all I want. Maybe buy out 1 or 2 FA years. I don't want to give him a 10 year deal (well, that isn't entirely true!)

I think it would need to be VERY team friendly. But the HRs are sexy and might drive up his arb numbers.

I still think he's a below avg catcher but won't kill you back there. Still think he's a 250, 300 on base, 30 hr type guy. That's valuable but he's also a catcher and who knows how he holds up.

Hard to believe this is him.....if it is....wow.

I think that is a little unfair. I think he's ok blocking. He's just not a guy that moves laterally well. You can't go wide and down.

First one I'd say pass ball. Last one i say most would have a hard time getting.

Regardless, he's let in several runs on balls that could have been blocked. Or put RISP.

His approach up there does not make me believe he will be a sub 300 OBP guy. Its not going to shock me to see him have 350+ OBP. This guy connects on a lot of pitches and hits a lot of balls hard so I think his avearge will be in the 260-290 range.

Harang hasn't even been our worst starter, don't see how you can get rid of him until he his. And he has no trade value, don't delude youself.

gattis hitting 275+ would be amazing. He'd be a house hold guy and a top 3 catcher. He'd essentially be Mike Piazza in the non steriod era context.

I can't imagine a world with Gattis at 290. 260 to 270 is about tops. Would LOVE to be wrong.

If he just focuses on swinging at strikes (trending in the right direction), I think we are going to see his average at those levels.

Gattis has a cannon.

He is a weird defensive player to evaulate. He does some things well (Framing/Throwing arm) but has some bad traits (not enough game calling experience/blocking pitches).

What I am noticing since the beginning of the season, he is incremently learning not to swing at bad pitches. Every game it seems to get better and better, laying off right off the bat, looking for "his" pitch. He absolutely murdered that homer tonight, not his normal 460 footers that are high into the night. He hit one of those JHey's line drive homers when he first came up (please go back there JHey).
