7/28: Dodgers game 3

In some ways it's simply bad luck for Sam Freeman. In other ways, it's teams learning they can put the bat on the shoulder against him and wait for him to get in trouble.

The Dodgers scouting report for him was literally "Let him do the work for you".

The overuse was basically a function of the way the pen was constructed. It happened during a stretch when Minter and Freeman were the only lefties in the pen. Combine that with 4 righties in the starting rotation, and its a formula for a lot of abuse for your one lefty reliever who isn't a late inning guy. Once Biddle was called up, the usage pattern improved a lot. And it will be even better with Venters available.
 
Back to back walks; can't leave him in the game. We're technically still in this (even with the prospect of facing Jansen) but we lose what ever slight chance we have if Freeman implodes again.

Staying with Sam. smh

Even when snit didnt use him he had him warming up, reminded me of how Fredi ruined some very good relievers
 
If Venters was a thought to pitch the 9th inning, why didn't he just start the inning? Freeman is what he is at this point, and I don't think anything is going to change with him in the next 2 months.
 
Snitker's going to break Venters by the middle of next month, great. And in case you're curious, I'd have put Carle in for that inning.
 
I already said I'd not use Venters back to back, what does snit do? This proves my point, snit is a complete moron. Poor Jonny!

Seriously. I think Biddle threw fewer pitches than Venters last night. Why not him. But really should have left Freeman in to take his lumps.
 
Snitker should've just left Sam to in to finish the inning ala Collmenter when he gave up like 6 runs in an extra inning game. You'd think that would push AA further to make a move.

I'd 10 day DL him and that should've happened a looooonnnnngggggg time ago. He's not this bad, and I think he was broken, and now Snitker is trying to break Venters. I'm in the middle of posting about something I'm thinking about for next year over on braves-nation and would include Venters as "lefty specialist", but I'm not sure why when Snitker is just going to break him.
