8/13/18 DH GAME THREAD vs MARLINS

yeah, i don't see how it was anything else.

If you retroactively give Stewart “credit” for “knowing” Swanson would struggle like he has, and you also downgrade Inciarte to “fourth OF” status because he’s had a couple down months at the plate, then you can rewrite the history of the deal to “not that bad”. But that’s revisionist, at best.

His velocity was 91-92 last inning at 60+ pitches. There has been a lot of talk about Touki to the BP, possibly due to not maintaining stuff for 90+ pitches.

This is something else to watch.

Good point. He could turn into an Andrew Miller type out of the pen - wipeout stuff, and can give you 2-3 innings if needed, potentially more in the postseason.

.

Let’s see this next half inning. I missed his last inning. I know he just recently had something like 112 pitch game.

Plus, in that case, doesn't Miller get downgraded to 'complete garbage filth who actually hurts the team's chances of winning any game he enters'?

Because that's what he has been since that trade.

Also, it's been mentioned many times, but if they thought they were close to winning it and made the deal with that goal in mind, Ender+Dansby was worth 5 wins more than Miller in 2016. So, again...horrific trade.

Probably should have gotten more back, but they gave up nothing at all essential.

Those players were much more valuable, all together, than what they received; regardless of whether they were “essential” to the roster as the constructed, it’s stupid to not gain full value for your assets.

I would control his innings enough to do that anyway. His stuff looks good enough to be an upgrade in our pen.

He basically sat 92 that inning. Obviously lower than where he started, but if he can maintain that velocity through the end, he's fine.

Touki looked like he lost it there for a second, but bounced back nicely to get the double play. Given this is a double header, let him go back out there for the 7th and save as much of the bullpen as possible.

83 pitches. Due up 5th in the bottom of the sixth. If his spot comes up I'd pinch hit for him. If not try to coax another inning out of him. I'd have someone ready in the pen either way. Biddle probably makes the most sense. Have Biddle try to get us to the 9th then Minter.

Have him on a short leash. But agree. He seems to have lost some mph like chef said.
