Jeren Kendall could be ready to go by the 2018 season, so that's something positive to take out of this game.

Yeah, it will probably be too close to call for a while. Offensively they seem like they will be pretty close to each other. Turner has better speed, but Swanson looks like he will be a stronger defender at SS. Pretty even, but I'd go with the local guy as well since he's probably slightly more likely to sign a reasonable extension.

AAAA pitchers spin solid outings here and there. Williams Perez showed us that last year.

I don't need to say anything after every single start. His numbers will speak for themselves.

Here's a quick tip though: don't reference Ks per inning when trying to chat stats. Use K rate, which doesn't assume every pitcher faves the same number of batters per inning.

No, but not because I think Swanson will be the better player. I liked Turner a lot but he would be 6 years and move on to a bigger market team. Swanson could be here 10-15 years.

k/9 is a legit stat. But Whalens 24.2 K% would put him at 20th in baseball. That's pretty good.
 
For those keeping score last night was the highest attended game on a Thursday this year for Atlanta. Wendesday was also the highest attended Wednesday of the year too.

Let's add up all the extra attendance you attribute to Swanson for the rest of this season. Then, we will compare it to the cost of losing the age 29 season of a 3-4 WAR player 6 years from now when the price per WAR on the FA market will be about $10M per WAR.

The point was not that Swanson couldn't bump attendance a bit. The point, which you so obviously missed, was no attendance boost for the rest of this season could possibly make up losing his age 29 season that will probably be worth $40M+ (and potentially more if he is the next Alan Trammel, who posted 8 WAR in his age 29 season).

Anyone that thinks a season of Swanson at the age of 22/23 is even remotely as valuable as his age 29 season is likely to be is either a complete moron, or has a crystal ball and knows Swanson will completely flop in his late 20s. I doubt any of you have such a wonderful crystal ball.

This is essentially prime time frame for attendance before kids go back to school.
