Rio called up, Stewart DFA’d. Rio is only 5-20 in the last week, but only one strikeout in his past 23 PA’s.

Rio and Santana might end up getting some high leverage pinch hitting assignments in September. Rio has been hot lately. This has been a curious year for him. He seems to have adjusted his approach to cut down on the Ks. It cost him power for a while. But now he seems to be putting it together.
 
one observation about pinch hitting...it helps the player stay sharp if he gets a game every week or so
 
This is a good point.... I think they'll give Rio some games and let Ozzie sit some as he has been such a horrid funk....
 
And with Rio, I actually like our bench now. Duvall has been hitting the ball pretty well- he's hit a few that would've been gone in most parks recently, and has put up some decent at bats. Charlie is solid, Rio I think is solid and has been on fire... Zuk/Tyler is a good bat in a late inning situation
