I was shocked we gave up anything and took on all of his salary. I figured it would take a guy like Beck for him and SF ate half. Or we'd get him for a PTBNL and we take the whole lot. Solid trade but I was very surprised at the time. I'd take him back next year at a very small number if Snit isn't requiring him to close.

I'm surprised as well. Winkler didn't last long in SF, so it's up to Beck for the Giants (although they did shed a big salary number). Minter is the guy that is actually looking like a potential closer this season (and I was skeptical on him). Melancon is an old school closer and his stuff is getting knocked around a bit, but I would take him back at a lower number in hopes that Smith either rediscovers his closer self or someone else slides into that role. But it is always amusing to look back on reactions. I know I can be off base quite often, so it's not like I'm poking at others.

Will Smith has only given up 4 hits in 6.2 IP. All of them HRs. He has a 30% HR/FB rate. I think it's probably gonna be ok.
