AA made a big move

He is a piece. Increased the Braves playoff odds by about 8%. No ace like his cy young year but hes a good pitcher. He is the 2nd best starter the Braves have pending folty figuring things out.

That's my view exactly. I'm in the minority on Folty but that's cool. Dallas makes us playoff dangerous...and that is cool.

I'd love to go with a serious bullpen strategy of Folty, Touki, and Newk... where those guys go 2 strong on rotation each night. Could really shorten games or keep us in them. I'd like to ask starters go 5-6... those 3 go 2 ip on rotation, and then close it down with whoever is fresh

Dont think Folty works out of the bullpen. Given Gausman is basically a 2 pitch, pitcher right now, he could be an interesting weapon out of the pen.

Well honestly, you provide some unique stats. Most of my posts consist of watching these prospects live so I haven't done much to dissect every stat. I respect them but I like to balance those as well. In this Era of analytics, I can say I love the Keuchel signing but he's a piece to me. Not the savior. I hope he is but we will see.

I provide very little unique stats. Everything I look at is available to everyone that cares to understand how modern MLB teams evaluate players.

And I agree with your overall assertion, DK is good and improved the team, but he isn’t some star that’s going to suddenly make the Braves favorites in the division. But he is also a lot better than Julio.

People don't know how to export data into excel and create their own databases. You understand what each stat means but people don't understand how powerful excel really is.

I just mean you dig where most don't. Obvious or not you put them together. As a matter of fact because of this board, I visit every minor league affiliate and try to bypass the scout take and give us the "what I see" take. I think it's a good balance. And I do think Dallas is better than JT, but peripherals aside, JT has done what we wanted for a3-4 starter.

A modified Wetland and Rivera strategy...I like it.

But the GM of our forum Enscheff told at the beginning of the season the Braves don’t have any more money to spend...

Funny that years of obsessing over pitching requires us to trade for a pitcher (Gausman) and sign one (DK) in our competitive year

Technically, this was supposed to be our first competitive year, so had things played out that way, we wouldn't have Gaus at all. Also, Folty, Soroka, and Fried are pretty important pieces to this team, along with Newk and Touki in the pen. Not that it's a ringing endorsement for this strategy, but I'd say the focus on pitching is definitely paying dividends among this year's team.
