Acuna A Finalist For BA's MiLB POY

There were failures at multiple levels. But surely there was failure on the part of the scouts who assessed him for us.

Scouting is an inexact science. You win some you lose some. Whiffing on a prospect like Olivera is forgivable imo. Trading Peraza and Wood for him is what makes it an unmitigated disaster.

It's not that they mis-evaluated HO that gets me so much (although it has to shake your confidence when someone misses THAT badly), but the fact that someone thought it a good idea to bring in a 30+ YO that had never played at the ML level, hadn't really played anywhere for 2 years, had an injury history, to a team at the beginning of a rebuild.

It was bizarrely bad no matter how you slice it.

It was just such a weird trade. Even if you are trying hard to think well of the Braves front office, it was really hard to see how it was a good idea from the very beginning.
