according to Bowman. Talking Chop has the details. It is possible that the Braves wait until the home stand vs Phiiiies beginning 4/16 rather than bring him up while the Braves are in Chicago on the 13th which is the earliest date for getting the extra year of control.

The question is what do you want the Braves to do??

from article

If the Braves wait until April 13th to call up Acuna to the majors, that will allow them to get an extra year of contractual control which, given how good many of think he will be, is the smart business decision even though you will struggle to find fans that want to wait to see in the Braves’ lineup. The Braves will be visiting the Chicago Cubs on that date. the smarter money may be on having Acuna debut at SunTrust Park a few days later to kick off a seven-game homestand so that Braves fans will be able to flock to see his debut.

The news is hardly surprising given the monetary stakes for the Braves especially given the expectations on Acuna. While it may be disappointing for some, at the very least it appears that the Braves are not going to keep fans waiting for long.

This question was answered months ago in an interview with AA, he even talked like then he hoped to keep him down a few months. There was never any question AA would go along with him making the team out of Spring Training.

I predict he starts from Day 1.

My reasoning: JS is still around even with a diminished voice. The Braves are on double secret probation with the commissioners office and with all the player association sabre rattling this offseason, I think the Braves are "encouraged" to think short term with Acuna for the sake of appearances. And I think they cave to build good will with the commissioner.

As NWA once rapped "F*ck the Police." If Schuerholz is still around, I hope he has a permanent case of laryngitis.

I might fear this would happen, had not AA been so vocal about not doing this. MLB already stuck it to the Braves, so what else are they going to do. It would look bad on the Commissioners office to "pile on". It was incredibly obvious what the Cubs did in 2015 with Bryant, and nothing was said at all. Why should the Braves be any different? The next year, the Cubbies won it all. In 2019, maybe Anuna will record the last out in RF in the WS. (Probably not, but we can dream.)

I honestly hate the idea of keeping Acuna down for two weeks just to suppress his service time. It’s such a grubby, cheesy thing to do.

But those are the incentives of the CBA, and trading two weeks now for a year of control down the road is a no-brainer. It’s arguably different if you have a potential playoff team - in 2010, we needed a win on the last day of the season to sneak into the playoffs, and two weeks of Jason Heyward might legitimately have been the difference there.

But if you’re going to be somewhere between crummy and mediocre, you have to keep Acuna down.

The Swanson callup fiasco looks worse and worse with perspective. The idea never crossed Coppy's mind but one day the senior Johns were shooting the breeze and decided hey why not.

It really does. And there was no real " this guy is ready " moment. Coppy even said so in that interview. The whole thing is so strange.
