Acuna

Once again, you aren't telling players to throw games, you are putting your youngsters in a position to get more reps/experience while sitting guys that are helping you win meaningless contests. JT/FF/Mark/Kemp...ect.... are big boys - they'll be OK.

You are looking at your team and saying we are not playing your best players.

I'm not saying I disagree. But you are sending an organizational message that wins and losses are not the most important thing if you do that.

Nothing is a guarantee and nobody is talking about tanking 100% to lose except when someone makes a strawman argument like thethe. But things should have been managed differently at the end of the year but they weren't. It cost the Braves some slot money and 3 spots in the draft. We will see how big of an impact that will be.

When you don't play your best players when they are performing well and are healthy then you are 100% tanking. What do you glean from watching a young player over the course of a 3 game series. You of all people who scream about statistical analysis and its merits. Sounds like you are contradicting your mantra.

So do you think Bobby was tanking every Sunday game for all those years?

Teams operate on a longer time horizon than winning the next game all the time. Sometimes they don't bring in their best relievers in a particular game because they know its a long season. Sometimes they turn their attention to maximizing their chances for next season. It happens all the time.

In September of 2016 wins were not that important to the future of the franchise. There is no carryover for doing well that month.

Maybe that strong finish and seeing Swanson playing well, helped us sign inciarte to an extension. Maybe not though... I do think it helped our player's mindsets going into the offseason. Maybe I'm just reaching.... God, let's the real games start soon!

When you play in the realm of possibilities I would say yes those could be possible results. I just don't think those are probable at all. Ender is plus defensive CFer with an avg bat that is 26 years old. If he loses a step he's going to lose quite a bit of value. It would be foolish for such a player to turn down guaranteed money like that.

Then the braves should not have traded heyward, upton, etc

That sent a message that wins were not the most important thing to the organization

The whole off topic portion of this thread is why I wish way back when someone would have realized that a pro/rel system would have been for the good of the game. This would completely eliminate tanking and force teams to try to win throughout the season. Thankfully, OOTP has given us this option in their latest game.

There wasn't a new stadium / revenue stream opening up in 2015.

That shouldn't have much to do with anything. Fans will flock to a new stadium whether a team is good or bad. Nothing that happened at the end of last year will make the product on the field better going forward. And ultimately that's what leads to a good sustained attendance. How well your team plays.

I 99% agree with the "shouldn't have called up Dansby" crowd to delay his clock, but, man, some of you fellas treat baseball like its your corporate job. It's really okay not to worry all that much about that extra $15 million in salary that John Malone may or may not have to pay six years from now.

My issue is the homers will go out of their way to defend the FO... even an unquestionably poor decision of promoting Swanson is brushed off as "it's not a big deal"

It will end up costing us a lot. A year of peak control, 3 draft pick slots, and a whole lot of draft slot money. I don't see how any of the positives can offset that. Matter of fact, I'd argue it would make financial sense to wait to call him up after the newness of the park wears off... would give the fans another reason to come see a bad team

The Genius called him up, therefore, it was the correct move.
