AcuñaMania

I'm all for trading some....heck we will have to. I am fine picking up a vet (even if he is short term and pricey). I would rather pay more money for one than prospects. The problem about trading for Fulmer or Archer...it won't just be pitching prospects. There will be a Albies or like position player, and we just don't have that many of those. We are just at the edge of the real pitching coming up. I never really had much hopes for the Wisler and Blair types. To me, next year is the beginning of the REAL guys coming up.

So then we are pretty much on the same page :)

I've warmed to the Verlander idea if we can get rid of Kemp. I just don't think it's realistic.

YES!! I think you could trade out Justin for Kemp also. Detroit has so many big contracts. Fulmer is great, but I would love to move Kemp and some prospects even if that meant us taking Verlander and Justin. Move Nick in the offseason and you could have Justin, Ender and Acuna and a rotation of Verlander, Folty, Julio, Newk, and Gohora etc. Detroit is ripe for the picking of we can do it in the right combinations. Fulmer's health scares me a bit to do a big deal with him involved.

Ronald with a laser beam line drive out to RF in his 1st AB. Singled up the middle in his 2nd AB.

Average up to .351.

The Summer of Acuña.

I'll be talking about this 50 years from now to my grandkids on my back porch with a glass of lemonade.

So a Venezuelan news source did an article about Acuna's season. Cliffs of it are Acuna says "I feel ready for the major leagues", him talking about how he's had good coaching at the minor league levels he's played at, and how he wants to play Venezuelan winter league baseball this year but will understand if Atlanta forbids him from doing it.

I bet the only thing keeping him in the minors now is the impending 40 man roster crunch.

More likely the $28.5 million due Markakis and Kemp next year. Blowing off the rest of Dat Dude's deal wasn't a big deal if he didn't want to get out of Ozzie's way, but this organization just doesn't look like it intends to eat contracts like theirs' anytime soon.

All bets are off come next June though - they ate similar money to what they owe Nick on Big Sexy this season, and if he performs even half as well as this between now and then the calls for him to be promoted will be deafening. If they can get a couple of good relief prospects for Markakis this winter I guess you can picture Ronald patrolling RF in SunTrust next April though.

I'd be happy if they could trade Markakis for salary relief. Screw the idea of seeking value from him, you probably upgrade by trading him and promoting Acuna after you let him finish laying waste to AAA the rest of this season.
