Alberto Callaspo Possibly Being Traded

Just skimming the Tweeter -- looks like Mets fans are unhappy that Sandy Alderson didn't make a play for Callaspo given Wright's recent diagnosis:

Matthew Cerrone: The Mets should have had interest in Callaspo, especially in light of recent news about David Wright. I don’t know if they were, or if they tried to get him, but he fits them well. His a switch hitter that is skilled at putting the ball play, with a really good glove, who has a history of league-average production. He’s hardly an All-Star, but a good, infield guy for the bench who has been around the block before and can be called upon to start every-day for a long stretches if needed. Again, I have no idea if Sandy Alderson had interest, but he should have…

Secret 3 way trade? Where really we trade Callapso for 3 Met prospects who are traded for Uribe and an awesome DOdgers prospect

I wish there was a wishful thinking emoticon.

He's going to get released either way.

That's likely. Might as well make yourself look cooperative. If you scuttle a trade and then get released it might hurt his prospects on the open market. If he accepts a trade and is released, he's still a free agent but one that looks easier to work with.

Maybe he'll think about that since him and Uribe share agents. Time will tell.

It sounds like the potential deal involving Juan Uribe and Alberto Callaspo has lost traction. Nothing imminent right now. #Braves #Dodgers

I can understand that a trade of that magnitude would be hard to get moving.

Probably Callaspo refusing to be traded. I will not miss him when he's gone whether by trade or release.

Personally, if I'm Hart and Callaspo refused the trade, I'd wait until the middle of June when I can trade him without his consent, offer to pick up his entire salary, and send him off to the worst destination I can think of. Find where he doesn't want to go and send him there.
