Alternate Site Thread

As bad as the rotation has been, at least we're not where the Red Sox are. Holy smacks.

They are pretty banged up (Benintendi, Sale, Rodriguez), but it's a AAAA pitching staff right now. Third-highest payroll in baseball. There's no column for W/$ in the standings, but they'd be last be a long ways if that were the case.

Or the Nats, oddly enough.

They really miss Rendon more than I thought they would. Some big performance drops from Sanchez, Suzuki, Robles, Cabrera, Kendrick and the bullpen as well. Maybe those performance drops level up a bit in a longer season, but that's the problem with a truncated season. Still a good team in my view but everything has to click.

Scherzer and Stras being hurt doesn't help either.

AA said the other day that they are completely re-vamping Newks delivery and that he is not going to be under consideration to come back any time soon......interesting

They actually said that when they first sent him down - guess he had to clarify for someone.

Another way I’d say it is this....

We are 90 plus percent to make the playoffs. Erlin starting a playoff game is crazy. Spend September finding the guy to start game 3. Even if it’s only one time through the order

Needs to be Hamels. He can give you 5 innings if he's built up.

Haven't seen it reported on here, but I see that RHP Victor Vodnik and RHP William Woods are at the alternate site.

Who is William Woods????

Curiosity got the best of me....

Low A Rome RHP from JUCO. 22 years old... generates a decent amount of K's. walks a bit of an issue.

as I recall a lot of ppl are really high on VV. He's just really far away b/c I think he was in A or high A ball.

The main concern was he was a 6 foot or sub 6 foot RH pitcher. Usually that is reliever or nothing. But there are notable examples where that has worked as a starter for various periods of time.

I found his inclusion interesting as well. Maybe they monitor the workouts of guys who are off-site completely and saw something they liked. Only information on him at Perfect Game is that he threw 93 at a showcase while in high school, but they didn't have anything else on him.

I'm just surprised that Peter Kozma is hanging around. Maybe the Braves need him on the field so that the infield fly rule can be applied inappropriately during a playoff game.

He's that guy that led the Scots against King Edward.

Oh wait...

Is there a place to view who is currently at the alternate site? I was wondering if Freddy Tarnok got added. He was not originally in the 60 player pool
