Angels close to acquiring Kyle Kubitza from Braves

Wasn't there a board meltdown at Scout in reaction to Jurrjens for Adam Jones rumors?

There wasn't a meltdown over a potential JJ for Jones trade, there was a meltdown over a potential JJ, Prado, and two of Teheran, Viz, Minor, or Delgado for Jones trade.

Lol at Rasmus. Guy will be out of the league soon.

Yeah, just what the Braves need. Another player who strikes out 1/3 of the time. Plus his strikeout rate has increased every year since 2011. He struck out 124 times in only 346 last season. Kind of pathetic

No...we are wrong. He would be great here. Look at all the success we've had with that profile.

Doesn't sound like a problem to me. The surgery he had was minor and has not had a track record of health problems... but I do know you like to argue with whoever you can.

He missed 60 games two years ago and is in his 30s. Certainly health is a concern. (Along with production and a neck injury).

The neck injury has been widely documented as minor and the Braves knew about it before signing him. He passed his physical with flying colors. Yes, he missed 60 games two years ago... its not a chronic problem, however, and he's never missed significant time besides that period. He's in his 30s, but in his early 30s... countless major leaguers are productive well into their mid to late 30s... lets not act like that's uncommon. Especially when contact and on base skills are his primary skill set... that skill set is EASILY more sustainable than a player who only relies on power and strikes out almost as much as Dan Uggla.

What about his health and age?

31 is not old and being 35 when the reasonable contact expires is perfectly fine. From EVERY report the procedure he had was minor and will have no long term problems. He's been an incredibly durable player over his career outside of one freak injury. If you're giving out a multi-year deal you want to give them to durable/consistent players.

Its just giles wanting to crap on every deal the Braves make... its nothing new... he lives for arguing... even if he's okay with a deal, he'll crap on it.

When you consider he's in his 30s and has been declining plus has an injury, I don't see how it's a good allocation of resources. What evidence do you have that a player like him will age well? He's walking under 10% with no power and .275ish BA. People don't question that? He's projected to have a low .700 ops next year and has been a bad defender for years.

Yeah, that's what it is. Hey,at least no one is saying Markakis is a MVP type like I was told when we signed BJ.

Questioning paying a league average at best player in his 30s is brilliant.

Blame this on the Braves piss poor drafts in recent years. They had no choice but to over pay an average player because the farmed system sucked balls. They had to trade Heyward because he wasn't going to resign. I'm not sure who else they could of signed or traded for to replace him. Sure he'll suck in his last 2 years but that is always the case for free agents.

Looks like some exaggeration on the 2 pitchers.

http://markbowman.mlblogs.com/2011/12/21/braves-did-not-offer-jones-and-prado-to-the-orioles/

A source with knowledge of the Orioles negotiations disputed a Baltimore Sun report that indicated the Braves were rejected when they offered Prado, Jurrjens and a pitching prospect for Jones.

However...

The Orioles later called the Braves to see if they would trade Prado, Jurrjens and two other “premium guys” in exchange for Jones.

Just because one teams "asks" for something, doesn't mean they're going to get it. Then, of course, just because some jerkoff read the Twitter feed doesn't mean a gaggle of other jerkoffs have to vent on a message board.

I thought y'all might be interested in this BA podcast as it is Braves related (including their take on this latest trade):

In this podcast, J.J. Cooper and Josh Norris discuss the massive farm system makeover for the Braves and answer questions from listeners.
