Around Baseball - 2013 Postseason GDT Edition

The cards starters have given up 2 more runs over the course of 5 games.

CANT MATCH UP!!

You aren't wrong but he can barely grip a bat right now, it's sad to watch.

A great hitter can carry a team, all the games have basically been close, he could impact the series greatly if healthy and as thethe said, we couldn't get the guy out.

A great hitter can carry a team. But he can also be pitched around making him virtually useless. The Braves outside of Minor's start couldn't get anybody out. Our pitching was atrocious. The Dodgers hitting well is more on the Braves sucking and not the Dodgers being good. Again there is no guarantee that Hanley hits well if he's healthy. Thinking otherwise is foolish. A healthy Hanely could help their chances this series. It doesn't guarantee them anything.

Still ridiculous for Abreu. For a 1B he will have to hit for a ton to justify 11 million a year. You know what they should do, trade for Uggla/BJ, sign Francoeur and go with an offense so bad that it will actually be entertaining to watch them because they are so bad. I can see the ads now "Come see the White Sox, 50/50 odds you will see a no hitter today!"

So you mock them for having a horrible lineup BUT also hate the signing of a 27 year old power hitter? That doesn't really jive....

Decent signing.

We have seen the likes of Puig, Cespedes, Darvish, etc be real good, maybe Abreu is too.

Considering how it worked out, I wish we would've traded McCann at the deadline. He had a horrible second half and Gattis played anyway.

:eusa_dance:

I seem to remember hitting and defense playing a major part in that 1/14.

Yeah. It takes a team effect to win it all. Dominant pitching gets you no where if the rest fail to show up. Somehow people forget this when talking about what wins in the playoffs. Want to know what wins? Playing good baseball. Teams with lights out pitching have won and lost. Teams with great offenses have won and lost. There is no formula. Get in and hope you play some of your best baseball. If you do you advance. If you don't you go home.

Beltran's career line of .327 .443 .717 1.160 in the playoffs getting even better tonight. :emot-siren.gif.17:

Detroit will be a prime example of having 3 hard throwers and getting nothing out of it (assuming they lose to Boston).

They have an even more expensive offense than us too.
