Around Baseball 2015 Edition

Nice little fight between the Royals and White Sox. KC is nothing if not feisty so far this season.

I'd be interested to see what happened if Ventura had to get into the batter's box every start. Dude seems to be managing his own innings limit by getting ejected every other outing.

This is only true if you don't believe a run created is equal to a run saved.

That's everyone right?

B/c a run created is actually a run. A run saved is theoretical.

Defensive metrics are like alchemy compared to the science of offensive metrics.

No, in the world of sabremetrics a run created is not an actual run. Atleast when it comes to offensive WAR.

Offense is so much easier to measure.

Defense is mostly guys watching games with a grid. Nothing is added for defensive placement. Shifts basically devalue the entire thing.

Actually plays with extreme shifts get taken out for individual data but get put into a team's overall DRS.

But you are right that it's not perfect. No stat is. I just find that it has a high correlation with what my eyes tell me and the general consensus of those that observe baseball.

The Royals really playing with a chip, making friends everywhere they go.

The Angels situation with Josh Hamilton could be resolved as early as tonight.

Sounds like a trade is coming.

But where???

The Angels situation with Josh Hamilton could be resolved as early as tonight.

4:51pm: Hamilton will be moved via trade, Rosenthal tweets.

4:50pm: The Angels are “close to parting with” slugger Josh Hamilton, Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports reports (via Twitter). Sports Illustrated’s Michael McCann wrote earlier today that it appeared a move that would sever ties between Hamilton and the club could be made within days.

My comments: Any chance he's headed here? I remember reading Atlanta as his preference not long ago. I would be fine adding him assuming they'll pay the difference in contract and say take back Chris Johnson. I could see moving maybe Maybin too if they rather do that than add more money since Hamilton is due a lot.
