Rangers are close to trading for Josh Hamilton.... still a lot of legal work to be done... likely announced on Mondat sources say
 
Interesting. I think that has the potential to work out well for both Hamilton and the Rangers.
 
IMO, the Rangers should not be paying any more than $10-15m total for Hamilton over the next almost 3 years. He's owed @$80m.

I doubt any team was willing to pay much, seems the Angels wanted him gone very badly so likely paying a huge portion of it just to have him go.

Josh Hamilton trade is materially a "baseball transaction," according to a source with knowledge of talks. Involves players and money.

5:25pm: Shin-Soo Choo is not involved in the prospective trade, Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times tweets. He had at least appeared to be a plausible piece to be included in a deal given his huge salary and rather pronounced struggles.

Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News writes that Texas would either need to have virtually all of Hamilton’s salary covered — or, would add him if and when he negotiates a release.

Yeah, they really embarrassed themselves with this one. To say nothing of the human aspect of things, it's just bad business. I continue to think the Angels are one of the worst-run franchises in the game.

Holy ****. That's a fantastic deal for the Rangers. I would LOVE to have Hamilton for only $15 million.

If I am Hart I'd get on the phone and tell the Angels we'll offer up Chris Johnson and even Maybin if they like, just so long as they pay most of what he's owed similar to the deal with Rangers.
