Around Baseball 2024 edition

105 pitches in the first start of the year. Sometimes the no no can damage a guy for the rest of the season.

Hope he can bounce back.

I mean he's 30 years old and he's spent 90% of the last 8 years in the minors. I'm sure he probably would rather have this story to tell his grandkids one day even if he has to have TJS a month from now.

Soto is having about as good of a start as you could hope for if you are a Yankee fan. Much like Judge, I don't see any way the Yankees let him leave.

The big question for the Yankees is what are they gonna do about pitching? They have 1 reliable starter right now and that is Stroman, who failed to throw more than 140 innings in each of the last 2 seasons. Yankees will probably need a minimum of 2 SPs come tradeline.

They'll get Cole back at some point, but Cortes, Rodon, Stroman, and a few of their other arms isnt the worst until then. But they for sure probably need another arm at the deadline. I do agree re Soto, when they have a player that good, they pay up for them.

Cortes has been good in spurts. But Rodon was awful last year and seems to have the same issues so far this year, though he was able to keep the ball in the park his first start. Expecting Cole to come back and dominate is pretty optimistic at this point. Wouldn't be surprised to see him get shutdown completely at some point.

Didn't take long

Wish we hadn't given away a game to an inferior team due to poor bullpen management.

That clip is a year old. He got suspended for it. An article a few days after it happened mentioned them throwing out some fans for screaming racial **** at him throughout the game. He was ready to gtfo of there.

MLB is having issues with getting all games in within the northern cities playing interleague or non-division games where the traveling team only plays 1 series a year (Philadelphia, Baltimore, New York, Chicago).

Who could've seen this coming? They did it right by starting Boston with 9 west coast games to start their year, giving Fenway 2 extra weeks for better weather if they're hellbent on starting in late March.

Tonkin has had a helluva time this week against the Tigers.

He gave up 5 runs in an inning against them a couple of days ago. Now he's given up 3 runs against them in 0.2 IP so far with the bases loaded.

Former Brave Shelby Miller gets the win and former Brave Michael Tonkin takes the loss.
