Around Baseball 2024 edition

Ohtani's interpreter placed 19,000 bets in two years. 791 a month. 182 a week. 26 a day. Average of 1.1 per hour over a two year span. I think he might have an addiction.

You would almost need a betting bot in order to place that many bets in that short amount of time.

I agree and for such huge amounts... No one will go after him though.. MLB will pay someone to help cover it up.

Wont be hard to cover up since they have a guy willing to take the fall. The feds get an easy win so they wont look too hard at it. None of Ohtani's people are going to kill the income stream he represents. Many of the people in the know (lawyers, accountants, etc) either can't or would never violate their client's confidentiality. And MLB has every incentive to cover it up.

There's basically no one in the know with any incentive to see Ohtani go down.

Now I don't know if Ohtani was gambling on baseball or not. I just know that the current story makes no sense and those propounding it have no credibility after the first story we got (Ohtani voluntarily paying the gambling debts). It all just looks like a cover up.

Can you do that every other day for 2 years straight? Cause that's the pace this guy was going at.

I wouldn't have to. I could spend about 2 hours on any given Saturday morning and make 500 bets with some simple clicks.. Now I am not sure how this dude and probably ShowHey made bets. They might have needed to call in since the dollars were so high. But Football is one day for 4 months basically. There had to be basketball, hockey, horses and probably baseball..

Unless you are just randomly selecting bets, I find it hard to believe you could make that many bets in a couple hours.

agreed to a point.. you could run several parlay for 20 teams you like.. plus over/unders, and props...

for the record, I am not arguing with you.. I think dude was betting and got his boy to die for him... I just have known guys in college that could make 100's of bets on any given day.. those guys never ended up doing very well (probably not in life).. but just saying I have seen it first hand.

With all the in-game options, I don't doubt you could do that rather easily. A lot of the bets would be really arcane, but there's always someone willing to take your bet (whatever that may be).

I think the takeaway from all of this is that sports betting is dumb and no one should do it.

Now, granted, I drink Mountain Dew and that's definitely dumb and absolutely no one should do that, so I don't judge people on their vices, but still.

Diet Mountain Dew for some reason is the diet soda I like most. Reg Mountain Dew is painfully too sweet.
