Around Baseball 2024 edition

No discipline in the management with the players. Examples from the management and leadership should be the suggesions....no Winter ball, keep your weight down, suggesting 'no golf' during the season. Instead....management coddles them.

Why everyone says that players would run through a brick wall for twit... that is the only running they will ever have to do..

try the veal.. tip your waiter..

Mike Trout, you are an Atlanta Brave.

Crazy and absurd as that may sound, I can’t dismiss the possibility in the future. I look for the Angels to try and find a way to deal him. They’ll have to kick in some money in any possible deal, but they have to be thinking of a way because they have to be getting tired of their biggest contract spending half the season at least on the injured list.

Quiet trade window so far. I mean dead quiet - has anyone been traded? Too many teams in it, I guess.

Honestly, hope we stand pat. This is just a snake bitten season for us. Fried, Strider, Acuna, Albies, Riley, Murphy, Matzek, and others have missed significant time this season. The others have yet to have a normal season outside of Ozuna. We may hold onto a wild card spot for the playoffs, but this is not a WS contending team (right now) and it feels like we are not 1 or 2 pieces away.

To be fair, I wouldn't mind selling our rental pieces. I know it would never happen, but I wouldn't mind hitting the reset button slightly.

to be fair, with Riley missing a few games, this team could be looking up at the last WC spot by the time the trade deadline ends.

Braves are 32-35 against the National League this year.

That number is even worse (27-34) if you take away their 6 games against the lowly Marlins.

What is still propping Atlanta is their 22-12 record against the AL.

I was floating down the Danube last week and just got back yesterday, so I was only watching from afar, but given the current situation of the team, I tend to agree with you. Just a star-crossed season at a lot of levels. I don't think the luck argument holds up completely and I do think the front office has made a few head-scratching moves, but when a team has this many of its top-tier players on the shelf it's going to be a struggle.

If everyone gets healthy and some of the underperformers step up, who knows what could happen in the playoffs. The pitching is good enough for a short series and hitters could possibly go on a tear. I'm guessing there won't be a ton of moves at the deadline as the front office takes stock of things and keeps one eye on the off-season in that process.

I doubt the benefit of selling. Even how an over-reactor like me would go. But I don’t think it would be wise in reality. Outside of Sale, there is not a lot that would return much. Maybe a pen piece or two. But like 50 said, it is probably better to stand pat or make a minor deal to appease the fans and just hope the stars get back to normal and twit figures out how not to screw things up.

Not that it makes too much of a difference, but the 2025 schedule will mark the 3rd straight year of Atlanta playing 7 games in Philadelphia while the Phillies only play 6 in Atlanta. It'll mark the 2nd straight year of the Braves playing 7 games in Queens compared to just 6 in Atlanta.

On the other hand, the Braves host the Marlins and Nats for 7 games for the 2nd straight year.

How difficult is it to get this right?
