At 3.5 million, pass.
3.5 is too high. But right now he is available for less. The 3.5 is not guaranteed.

Bonifacio might make more sense than Schafer. Can play CF and 2b as opposed to just CF.
Tommy Hanson and the Rangers are close on a deal. Over/Under on how many HRs he gives up?
Apparently mlb has been sending money to the nats to make up for their bad tv deal. Anyone else pissed off about this. Braves have a bad tv deal signed by previous owner and mlb doesn't care. The nats have a bad tv deal they knew in advance was a bad deal and mlb gives them money to make up for it every gear? That's bullcrap.

Arroyo signed with the Dbacks. It's either 2/23.5 or 3/30 depending if the club option is picked up.
What a great deal for Arizona. Ugh. Would love to have him for that price.
For 2 or 3 years? Pass when we have so many young guys in the rotation and no need to block anybody making that much. And it's market value for Arroyo anyways. He's averaged 1.62 WAR since 2009 when you take out his horrible 2011 (where he was sick a lot). The going rate is about 6 million per WAR right now. 6 millon for 1.62 WAR comes out to 9.72 million. Pretty much what this is.

The third year is a team option, which makes this deal a good one for Arizona. And, much like last year when Wren scrambled at the deadline looking to find a starting pitcher (and tried claiming someone in almost the same position as Arroyo), we are going to regret not making a move.

"For now, the MASN status quo remains. The Nationals aren’t completely helpless, though: According to a source close to the Washington franchise, MLB has sent the team an undisclosed sum every year to help bridge the gap, and to prevent the Lerners from taking matters to court, until the deal becomes more balanced."
What bull****
