James Wagner and Adam Kilgore of the Washington Post report that Wilson Ramos will miss the next 4-8 weeks after undergoing hamate bone surgery on his left hand Wednesday.
An MRI Tuesday revealed the damage. Ramos will visit specialist Kenneth Means in Baltimore for a final opinion, but the expectation is that surgery is a foregone conclusion. It's a tough blow for the Nationals and for Ramos, who has been snakebit the last few years with injuries. He should return sometime in May, but players coming back from hamate bone surgery often experience a loss in power. Jose Lobaton will handle the catching duties while Ramos is out.

Sources: #Rays agree to six-year extension with RHP Chris Archer in range of $25M. Deal begins this season and includes two club options.

Archer is a really good pitcher that is going under the radar right now. This is norm now with baseball. A pitcher in those first 6-8 years is incredibly valueable. I'd like to lock up Wood as well. Good for the Rays. They know the right players/parts of their team to spend money on. I hope they are able to start spending a little more money than we are used to with them. Hopefully Price stays there long term.

Wouldnt count on Price staying.

Imagine they trade him this winter.

Archer is very underrated though.

Good for him. He is the type of player I root for. Wish him success.

I never got the hatin' on the guy (although if you look back at some of those threads, I probably piled on). He is who he is. A decent 25th guy who can do enough things at the end of the bench to contribute in small doses. He actually started in RF for the Tribe today.

For people bashing Fredi for hitting BJ 2nd.

The Nats have Harper-Zimmerman-Desmond hitting 5-6-7.

Bonificaio had 5 hits last night for the Cubbies in a 16 inning game they lost to the Pirates.
