James Wagner and Adam Kilgore of the Washington Post report that Wilson Ramos will miss the next 4-8 weeks after undergoing hamate bone surgery on his left hand Wednesday.
An MRI Tuesday revealed the damage. Ramos will visit specialist Kenneth Means in Baltimore for a final opinion, but the expectation is that surgery is a foregone conclusion. It's a tough blow for the Nationals and for Ramos, who has been snakebit the last few years with injuries. He should return sometime in May, but players coming back from hamate bone surgery often experience a loss in power. Jose Lobaton will handle the catching duties while Ramos is out.
