Around Baseball

Take away their games vs the Braves and they would be 8 games better in the standings and more than likely make the playoffs. Its nice to know we pretty much eliminated them from the playoffs.

They have been playing well. 16-11 in August. They just don't have enough time to make it to the playoffs without some Dodgers type of run, which isn't happening.

And they also lost 3 of their last 4. They are what they are. A .500ish team. They will do well for a couple weeks and then not score a run for a couple of weeks. They have been doing this all year. It will continue in September as well. They are not a good baseball team.

Harold Reynolds said McCutchen isn't a MVP candidate because he doesn't have a ton of RBI's, but BP is....

Smh.

sportscenter made a post on facebook mentioning Rivera reaching 40 saves for the 9th time.

kimbrel's 1/3 of the way there

That's hard to do. Him and Steve Phillips.

Speaking of which, did you ever see the trim that cost Phillips his job? Geeeya....

Good lord. Just ... the humanity.

It also ignores their like 11-16 July which basically confirms the .500 theory.

Also going 16-11 is good for a team who hasn't had sub .500 months. The Nats have 2 sub .500 months, and a .500 month. August was their first month where they were well over .500 as well. Hard to compare to the Braves who had no month under or at .500 to date. And the Nats playing well is called, worse than the average Summer month in Atlanta. Where from June-August the Braves carried a .630 winning percentage. Most of that meat was in August but the Braves nearly matched the Nats "playing well" (16-12 in June and 15-11 in July) all during a time many of us Braves fans were concerned with how our team played.

Apparently Ryu was supposed to start for the Dodgers tonight? But they went with Volquez instead...so that worked out for us. The Pirates lost, too, so there's that.

Nats won again. Time to panic? This humble poster says yes.

Bryce Harper's hair and lack of hustle have lit a fire under the Nats. They're red hot, having won two games in row. After the break, the Baseball Tonight team will tell you why the Braves are feeling the heat.

LOL, this season couldnt have played out any better regarding the Nats. Just couldnt handle the pressure.
