Morosi on the Tweeter:

Sources: #Tigers, #Cubs continue to have trade discussions; Alex Avila and Justin Verlander are of interest, but extent of progress unclear.

Damn.

Umm, hello, Cubs....Braves have Garcia and Suzuki available!!

Rays traded Casey Gillaspie for Dan Jennings.
Gillaspie has had a rough season, but Dan Jennings is basically nothing. Pretty surprising to me.

Lucas Duda only brought back a RP prospect. Apparently has a big fastball, but still a sign that the position player market is very weak. I'd prob take Duda over Adams.

Duda has a surplus value of like 4 million the rest of the season. He brought back a guy that didn't even get a FV ranking seems about right. The position player market may be weak due to a lack of available players but guys like Duda just aren't going to bring much back.

With the way teams value young players and prospects now the days of getting a Matt Laporta (top 10 prospect) for half a season of CC Sabathis is over for the most part. Either someone really screws up (Dave Stewart) or it's something like the Cubs did last year with Chapman.

Truly shocking the Cubs made that move... makes me think a lot less of Theo

Supposedly they had a really high internal WAR on Chapman for the rest of the year due to what he could provide in the playoffs. It worked in the end I guess and they were trying to end a horrible streak. 9 times out of 10 though that move would get you roasted for obvious reasons.
