Around the League: 2017 offseason edition / 2018 Season

Never root for injuries (in Syndergaard's case), but we could use a break from getting everybody's top-end guys for a little bit.

Kershaw just went to the DL, looks like we wont be seeing him next weekend as well.

In a perfect world the ump doesn't signal either way but if the Dodgers don't appeal they are basically conceding the run.

Yeah I didn't see the whole play, but it doesn't appear as if the ump makes a call, but I still don't know how the ump missed it. Catcher tags the guy on the knee, and runner is never close to the plate (at least a foot away), and my understanding of the rules is if the ump doesn't signal anything he doesn't believe the runner was tagged and he doesn't believe the runner touched the plate. If the runner just goes to the dug out isn't he out because he didn't touch the plate? It's like on a homerun, if the player misses a base or doesn't touch home doesn't he get called out.

The other team still has to appeal it.

For discussion reasons, he has the opt out at the end of the year. His fast ball velo has steadily declined over the past few seasons, and this season he has already been disabled twice....have to think it would be better to just opt into the rest of the contract rather than opt out...

I know as a buyer, i'm not giving him the dollar amount he is going to ask for.

Hes got 2 more years at 32 and 33 million at his age 31/32 years.

He would still get a pretty lucrative deal if he opted out, but the years would be the main question. As we saw this offseason, the market for alot of players was dry. That will certainly be one of the bigger, more interesting situations to follow as free agency nears though.
