Around the League 2020 Edition

Amazing the Fish guys tested positive... and apparently it happened while in Atlanta. Wonder if any of our guys have it from them. Or maybe we gave it to them.

Can't see how the Phillies-Yankees game tonight (or series for that matter) isn't cancelled as well. Couldn't possibly imagine the Yankees want to hang out in the same clubhouse and dugout the Marlins just vacated.

I wonder if this is how Flowers and d'Arnaud (potentially) got it?

I also wonder if MLB has any kind of contingency plans, or if allowing an organization roughly 25-30% positive to decide whether they want to play that day is more indicative of their level of foresight.

Well they don’t have to be in the dugout or clubhouse. They can dress on the main concourse or in the suites. They can also sit in the stands

At this point, the only way things continue is if players and coaches take a stand and basically say "we don't care." that would be silly but not unprecedented.

Yankees-Phillies now also cancelled.

It was a fun weekend of baseball anyway.

The season seems ill advised based on how the first three days went.

Surely MLB had a contigency plan for when the inevitable outbreak would occur. If they didn't then there was no point in starting the season. Hopefully MLB has enough will to push through this outbreak, but I doubt it. For whatever reason there seems to be a strong desire in sports media to not want to play.

The sports media is overwhelmingly liberal.

probably because it's kinda easy to see why it was ill-advised. if it keeps spreading this easily, there's zero chance of playing 60 games.

It's a disease called "virtue signalling".

One contingency plan the league could implement is to take a 5 day pause and test for those 5 days, and if it doesn't blow up then start the league again. Play double headers to make up for the lost games.

Waiting to hear if the 2020 MLB season has been cancelled. Nothing definitive yet. “In jeopardy” seems to be the most texted term to me in the last 30 minutes.

I would like to see the media push mlb to fix an ill advised plan so that baseball could be played. Creating a better bubble around the players and requiring managers to socially distance are no brainers and could have been easily instituted.
