Around the League - 2021 Szn

Not related to the 2021 season but the news came out today. The 2022 schedule is out and the Braves will be playing against the AL West in interleague. Looking like they are reverting to what the 2020 schedule should have been. Which excites me since the Braves are going to Arlington.

Will be cool to see Ohtani and Trout finally.

A little random, but is Chapman pulling an Uggla career path, hitting-wise anyways? His K rates have sky rocketed the last 2 years and his hit tool seems to have disappeared completely. Still walks a good amount though.

Rangers released David Dahl today. Wouldn't mind taking a flier on him to see if he can do anything at Gwinnett.

A few posters were hoping we would sign him last off-season. He looked like a reasonable (relatively) low-cost option. I don't think anyone thought he'd be this bad. I'd wait until the off-season and see how everything shakes out. If he had a reasonable price last off-season, I can only imagine it will be more reasonable going forward.

Rendon goes down after hitting .240 with 6 jacks.

Another contract year snags a sucker

Yeah that's not accurate at all. From 2014-2020 Rendon was 3rd in WAR behind Betts and Trout. He's a great player. Played great last year after he signed that deal. Lots of injuries this year though.

I mean he's past 30, he's possible for a collapse at any point. But he's just not connecting like he has in the past. His exit velocity is down and he's lifting more balls than ever.

Kidding.

I wanted him the year he hit FA. He’s a stud (that we drafted previously) It just seems all too common that a contract year is a just that a contract year.

Watch Dansby hit 50 bombs next season.

League average hitter with solid defense at a premium position? I'll take it.

Just say no to an extension though. Let someone else overpay after next year.

Sure. He's having a good season. He should surpass 3 WAR this season which puts him in the 'good player' bucket. He will be 28 next year with 1 year left before free agency. He's played his best baseball the last two years so he's in a good spot to get a decent payday if he keeps it up next season.

Not sure where AA is looking to upgrade in the coming years. SS is certainly an option but I would see what Swanson is looking for and if you can get him at somewhat of a discount I would probably do it.
