Around The Majors 2019

Was looking through the box scores and saw that Connor Joe was the starting LF for the Giants last night. Braves acquired Joe from the Pirates for Sean Rodriguez and sold him to the Dodgers after the 2017 season. Had a nice 2018 season in AA and AAA, but went through two franchises in the 2018-2019 off-season and ended up in San Francisco. My interest was piqued when the Braves acquired him. He was drafted 39th overall in 2014 as a 3B.

i had read something about him making a swing change and the author of what i read seemed to think he could be poised for a turnaround. not so much i guess.

I wonder what the mood of the fan base will be when they realize that they’re not world beaters.

Theyll pick up tve best available starter at the deadline. The offense will mash them to 92+ wins.

Cant wait till we are 100%

A guy that could become available in the next year that I’d trade any minor leaguers for is Francisco Lindor. I don’t see Cleveland shelling out the money it’ll take to keep him. Plus they have a pretty weak farm system. He’s controllable for 2 more years after this one.

With what talent? They traded their best pieces already. Alec Bohm is their new No. 1 prospect and he completely bombed his pro debut. May be Bumgarner will be available, but any TOR pitcher with control will basically be impossible for them to acquire. Unless they take on all remaining salary for Greinke.

Phillies have gone the Cubs' route in putting their team together. They still have some decent prospect bodies they could move for an upgrade (along with Nick Williams from the major league roster), but if and when they do that, there won't be much left in the cupboard.

In another matter, I was a bit surprised to see ex-Brave minor leaguer Dylan Moore on the Mariners' opening day roster. Didn't do much of anything in his time in the Braves' system after coming over from the Rangers and was let go at the end of spring training in 2018. He went on to have a dynamite year in AA and AAA in 2018 in the Mariners' system and found his way to the big leagues in 2019 as their IF utilityman. Baseball is a curious game.
