Around The Majors 2019

Really hope we see a walk, stolen base, sacrifice and a sac fly in the bottom of the 9th. Would be so fun to watch him lose a no-hitter. Those are the best

Any time you get frustrated about our bullpen, just tell yourself "at least we don't have the As bullpen." They lead the majors in blown saves. Today, they had a 4-0 lead entering the 8th inning. They gave up 3 runs in the 8th and then started the 9th and gave up back-to-back homers to the bottom of the Yankees order (Gardner and PH Mike Ford) to lose 5-4.

I was looking back at our games vs the Nats this year, I had forgotten that Teheran has been as good against them as anyone. He had two good games against them we won, though he got a ND in one. Folty has been the worst vs them, two bad games including that game he gave up 8 runs. Soroka had a short outing that Tomlin won with great relief, and Tomlin surprisingly has been great every game in relief vs the Nats. Plus Soroka had a loss and beat them in D.C. pitching 8 innings of 1 run ball. DK has two losses in both starts against them, but one game wasn't bad. Gausman had one great game against them too. Fried had one loss against them where he gave up 4 runs. So they are 3-0 vs our lefties they'll face in the first two games. But they've lost three of four against Teheran/Soroka who will pitch the last two of the series.

Teheran had a lot of problems with Harper. No Harper no problem. The gnats are strongly right-handed now, with just Soto and Eaton hitting from the left side among the regulars, though Adams plays a lot with Zimmerman struggling/injured.

We are lined up to throw Fried, Keuchel, Teheran and Soroka in the first series against them. And Soroka, Folty and Fried in the second series.

It doesnt look like Folty will go vs them per ESPN schedule.

Matchups look like Stras/Fried, Corbin/Keuchel, Ross/Teheran, Scherzer/Soroka.

Right, removing Harper made Teheran a better match-up vs the nats.

Four pretty good pitching matchups. The one that favors them the most is the first one. And I like Ross/Teheran for us.

I'm thinking one of Duvall or Riley will be brought up to be in the lineup against Corbin.

With the off day between the Toronto and gnats series, all of our starters will be going with an extra day rest.

I also like the fact that the Metropolitans are throwing 3 righties against them. 3 hard throwing righties. It helps a little that they have to go from facing those guys to facing Fried and Keuchel in the next two games.

Trea Turner has reverse splits for his career. Interesting.

Lol I'm in a discussion on reddit about Freddie Freeman, and people are acting like it is absolutely insane that I wouldn't be willing to sign Freddie Freeman to a 5 or 6 year extension in 2021. I said that we should offer him a 2+1 or a 3+1 year deal and let him walk if he wouldn't accept it and people lost their minds lol.

It amazes me how many people are willing (or actually wanting to) buy out a player's age 35+ seasons at huge AAVs. Its literally almost always a terrible idea.

Freeman will retire a Brave and he has said he is willing to do a series of shorter term deals to stay a Brave.

I don’t know. I still get the feeling that Freddie will be an Angel in a few years. Close to his hometown, and they’ve been notoriously stupid at signing aging players to ridiculous deals.
