Around the Majors - 2022 Version

I can understand Rosario over Pham but Joc was a way better choice. Maybe he just wanted to go back west.

Still… this Rosario situation is a problem. Hopefully the eye surgery gets him back right. It would explain issues on offense and defense

Let’s wait and see on Joc… he starts out blazing hot every year and then he becomes very average to below average

It's more than just the start. He took a one year deal for less than Rosario will make this year. And his defense is better. It's not a huge blunder but if we could have had Joc at what the Giants paid him, he was the better choice.

Bill James is floating an idea/future rule change that hitters should only be allowed two foul balls after the batter takes a strike two. The third foul ball would result in an out. Anyone else like this idea?

Sure, let's move further towards beer league softball.

Travis demeritte, but TDA is fast

I still don’t understand why TDA doesn’t DH on his off days.
It’s like Snit doesn’t understand your supposed to deploy a good hitter in that spot.
We rest him once every 3-4 days and most teams would be getting his bat in the lineup but not us

I thought this was some of the reason we signed a very competent backup. So yeah I don't get that.

There is situation if Pena gets hurt and we have to put TDA in, Braves lose the DH for that game, but I don't think that should deter TDA from DH'ing. I agree, give him one full game off every week and have him batting as DH on Pena catching days.

No I understand that concern but what about the entire month we had three catchers on the roster?
That was just dumb roster management.
It would be different if our offense was good but with so many mediocre players having to be in it, seems to me having him DH some would help the team

That was just twitner roster management.

let me fix this for you..

Joc is from Palo Alto and his wife’s dad is the current COO of Apple. I am sure there was a strong desire to come home.

Three months and a ring were perfectly acceptable outcomes from Soler, Joc and Rosario. Rosario’s contract isn’t a huge blunder because it’s a small commitment, but the process seemed a little shaky.

I’m intrigued at how AA will do as we enter this next phase in our window. It takes an entirely different skill set to build a winner versus maintaining one. Building a team is all about betting big on undervalued assets. When you try to maintain, you’re prone to deviating from good process with the justification “we need this one thing so let’s get it.”

I think he might have nailed the big move (Olson trade and extension), and missed on the ancillary moves. The latter makes this year more difficult, whereas the former keeps the window open.
