Around the Majors - 2022 Version

I absolutely hate Duvall and Ozuna, but do you think the org is ready to give up on them this soon.. especially with Rosey coming back as a platoon.

I mean, I would love to get rid of any one/all of those 3 if at all possible.

Duvall is best suited for a part time or platoon role anyways. He's also not making a ton... Ozuna is trickier

He should have done this long ago. Weird he did this after this past weekend.

still, his agent does what they’re told by Freddie. I still find it hard to believe the agent gave a counter take it or leave it offer to AA without Freddie’s knowledge. He can’t be that oblivious to the situation.

also, changing representation now is kind of pointless. His contract will run through the age of 40, basically the end of his career. He’s signed his last big deal.

I think this is a smart move. It looks like he really wanted to stay and the agents messed it up. That may be true or maybe not, but it looks like that. Looks matter, especially for future roles with and around the braves.

I still think Olson is going to be better over the length of the deals.

Can't imagine Dodgers moving him. He'll be there for the contract and he'll play great for two years and start to decline. Probably win 1 more ring.

I hope some guys look at this situation and think about more than just the money.

I'm not a pro owner, wage suppressor. But I think it is important to think about the entire situation.

FF misses the Braves. Not sure why, exactly, but it's clear. One thing money can't buy is his stature in ATL's clubhouse vs LA. That is gone. He's not the man. He's not the guy who sets the culture. He's probably had to adapt more this year than he has since a rookie. Baseball is a long season and you spend a ton of time with the team and in the facility. If you like your situation, maybe that is more important than more money.

If not, just go get your money. Plenty of guys have no trouble adapting.

It’s been 3 months of the 6 years lol.

Again, I could be wrong. I've saw nothing from the 2 to suggest Olson is better though

Unlike others I'm less interested in years 5-6 than I these first 4 years. We most likely don't have this killer pen and fried for many more years. I hope I'm wrong on this too

He could have "wanted to stay" more than anything, but people ignoring the fact that he allowed Close to continue playing chicken when he had the 5/135 offer in hand are sticking their heads in the sand.

Once Alex had offered that much it was on Freddie to tell Close to break down the two offers so it was easy to see the Braves were offering not only the place he "wanted to be", but actually more money. The whole mess is still on Freeman, and Chipper made that perfectly clear when he said none of this is on Alex and that Freeman made a mistake. No one knows more about how Close operates in those situations than Larry Wayne.

His body language said everything this weekend and it was pretty plain to everybody including his teammates. If we could get him back and have a 1b/DH platoon between him and Olson fine but they both love defense to much. Can’t cry over it now but what’s done is done. I still think Olson is better the next 6 years.

All that really matters right now is 2022, not the end of the deal, and you can't with a straight face say Olson has been better. I don't need numbers to prove it. You can see it with your eyes if they are open. Matt's feeling pressure.

There's no way the braves can tie that much money in 1b/DH. He gone

Olson was better last year than he's shown this year, so I'm certainly not saying he won't at least close the gap.

You're basing Olson outperforming FF on hope at this point. Nothing suggests he's better.

And you’re basing your opinion on hoping that Freddie doesn’t have significant age regression in the last few years of his contract like 98% of other players his age have done since the beginning of time.

If he can negotiate an out and if he's willing to sign a deal that works for Atl then he could be back. But honestly, without an attitude adjustment from Freddie I can't see the Dodgers keeping him around. They have seemingly endless payroll and could replace him easily.

And some start the regression at an earlier age, so how do you know Olson isn't one of them? For all we know, both could drop off a cliff next year.

FWIW, zips says Olson will be better over the next 3 years.

Ok man. You win. 😂

I still say Olson stole your sister/girlfriend. You have a serious reverse boner for the dude. Either that or you just like to overreact to everything
