Around the Majors - 2022 Version

Ok man. You win. 😂

I still say Olson stole your sister/girlfriend. You have a serious reverse boner for the dude. Either that or you just like to overreact to everything

Dude, I spend like every open minute I got following braves and brave prospects. There is nothing I want more than the braves to do well, and that requires Olson doing well. No one is pulling for him harder than me

If Olson averages 2.5 to 3 WAR over his 8 years, I’ll be happy. He’s been good this year, but he needs to be better. Olson isn’t the problem.

He doesn’t need to be better than Freddie. That wasn’t an option for us. Freddie firing his representation is evidence of that.

Well after today's events, I'd say it's a good bet the two will be teammates to watch it play out. This will turn out like Don Sutton's two years in DC.

2.5 to 3.0 fWAR would be very disappointing to me

Well then you are expecting him to be worth more than his $160m contract, which is great. A true believer.

Last 3 full seasons of fWAR for Olson...
3.1
4.1
4.9

Why in the world should we be satisfied with 2.5-3.0?

Average. We should be so grateful if he’s putting up 5 WAR seasons in year 8 of that deal. Thankfully, his contract doesn’t price that in.

If we expect his final years to pull down the avg like that, the extension was probably not a great idea

I mean what will FF's be 6 years of his contract. I'd be shocked if the avg was 2.5ish

ETA... if Olson gives us 4 seasons of 4.5 and then 4 of 2.0, that's an avg of 3.25

Ender is back in the majors.

Seems unlikely, but I hope he's still on the team when the Mets come to visit in a few weeks. He deserves his own ring ceremony (it's possible they sent his already). Ender was a bit part of the tail end of the rebuild and the playoff teams that followed. By all accounts he was a good teammate and even continued to cheer on the Braves after he got cut.

Great. The player you are describing is worth over $200 million.

Some of you need to get a grip. There is zero chance he plays anywhere other than LA for at least the next two years.

What was surplus value on pache, langeliers, and cusick?

We paid Olson what we expect him to produce. If he outperforms his contract, that’s awesome. I hope he does it. Averaging 3 WAR over eight years is a tremendous accomplishment. Very few players would be able to do that. I think the trade package and contract reflect that fact.
