Yeah, most everyone knows he is lying.. but still to say it outright makes it hard to come back from. He can always hide behind that sliver of doubt he was not a cheater.. also makes it easier for fans to accept. they can also start to forgive quicker.
It's what happened with Pettite. He admitted to using it to help him come back from injury and largely got a free pass from the fans/media. Making excuses makes you look like a joke. Tatis is now a joke.
Positive PED tests fly forever.
yeah, the phillies spending a bunch of money and having it eventually turn into one year of the playoffs so far isn’t impressive at all. their development still hasn’t been good so far and they always have a bad contract or two hanging around. Castellanos was a bad use of $20m and they still don’t really have any depth. there isn’t much on the farm outside the two pitchers who are really young.
PEDs should be legal for recovery. Anything that helps get the player back on the field.

do you? bc you seem impressed with Dombrowski spending a bunch of money to make the playoffs once.
So, that whole paragraph and that’s what you took from it, huh? Can you point out where I said I was impressed by that particular endeavor?
Do better.
Now, he’s got the Phillies on the verge of their first playoff appearance in over a decade.
So, Dombrowski is a pretty good GM. Yes, he’s mainly good at win-now mode, but he’s really good at it. I’m confused at where the dismissiveness comes from.
yes, this implies that you’re impressed that Dombrowski spent a bunch of money and has the phillies positioned as a wild card team. it’s not particularly difficult to make the playoffs with that kind of payroll so i wouldn’t add that to his list of accomplishments, that’s all. any GM can spend a bunch of money to “win now” and create a short contention window. actual good GMs build.
As the original poster in this Dombrowski side bar, I didn’t take that away AT ALL from what Cy said.
