It's what happened with Pettite. He admitted to using it to help him come back from injury and largely got a free pass from the fans/media. Making excuses makes you look like a joke. Tatis is now a joke.

good example.. I couldn't think of any case of a guy just coming out and owning it.

Think you guys are creating drama that doesn’t exist in that video. That looks like a team finding itself and will grow together from it. Or not.....

Freddie’s decline may start earlier if he’s playing every inning of every game. With the Dodgers record and place in the standings, Freddie could afford to take a game off each week the rest of the way.

So, Dombrowski is a pretty good GM. Yes, he’s mainly good at win-now mode, but he’s really good at it. I’m confused at where the dismissiveness comes from.

yes, this implies that you’re impressed that Dombrowski spent a bunch of money and has the phillies positioned as a wild card team. it’s not particularly difficult to make the playoffs with that kind of payroll so i wouldn’t add that to his list of accomplishments, that’s all. any GM can spend a bunch of money to “win now” and create a short contention window. actual good GMs build.
