This doesn’t make sense to me really. 1. Way too small sample right now. 2. Really young still so not even prime numbers yet. 3. Wouldn’t a guy who K’s less have a power number than avg. I mean he is putting balls in play that other guys just miss. So those weak contacts will drop his numbers. Especially with a small sample like this.

Making weak contact on bad pitches isn’t something to celebrate.

Grissom’s overall results are mostly smoke and mirrors, as evidenced by the .410 BABIP and 21.4% HR/FB rate his Braves-worst exit velocities clearly don’t support. Exit velocity on fly balls and line drives is a better measurement of power potential, and Grissom’s at 89.7 is worst on the roster among guys with 25+ such batted balls.

The good news is he seems to have the skills to succeed as a contact oriented offensive player. Probably not what you want in LF next year, but it certainly plays on the infield.

Having power up and down lineup might allow a contact, speed guy to play in Lf. I'm assuming Acuna's power comes back

I know he is smoke and mirrors right now. Just saying that exit velos at this early stage of his time is pointless unless you think he is some power/ homer up guy. Can he get you 15-20. Probably. But he needs to be a low K guy with a high OBP.

Now can that play in LF. Maybe not on some teams. But we have our high exit velo guys locked up for years. So I don’t care if we have a center fielder playing LF when we might have a LF playing CF for the next 8-10 years.

This lineup could use a high obp, low k guy

I agree. Prado was a good example of this type of player.

I don’t view Grissom as an everyday LF. I view him as a 2B/OF who allows the Braves to rest Ozzie, Dansby (assume he resigns) and Riley, which will become more important as these guys get older.

Of course, this assume Grissom can even play the OF. Arcia was acquired to play this role and he hasn’t managed to learn how to read fly balls yet. I expect Grissom will be asked to go play OF for a winter league team.

You also assume Snit is gonna give days off to those guys.

He wouldn't force Freddie to take a day off. Who says he's gonna use Grissom as a supersub to spot Riley Ozzie or whomever.

I never thought of that comparison, but it may be a good one. Grissom is bigger physically than when Prado hit the major leagues and looks to be a bit more toolsy than Prado, but from my limited viewing of Grissom, they seem to have similar approaches at the plate. Prado was a unicorn of sorts because they just threw him into the OF one day and he handled it. Not a lot of guys can do that.
 
Gonsolin forearm strain... not good for the Dodgers, but some speculation that it may be just an excuse to skip him for the Mets series. Would seem like an odd injury excuse though since forearm strains many times end up with TJS

Ya... I agree with this. Seems like they'd have something more generic like "arm fatigue".
