Beating a Dead Horse

Almost everyone was saying the same thing.

The top health official in NYC was begging people live life as usual.

Pelosi was telling everyone there is nothing to be worried, to be in public as normal

The amazing WHO was assuring everyone that China confirmed that its not transmittable from human to human contact

The list goes on and on.

Trump was wrong. Everyone was wrong. The constant effort to score political points must be exhausting, isn't it? Especially when it appears that effort is massively backfiring in Trump's favor.

Pretty incredible that we've gone from "hoax" and "totally under control"
to a best case scenario of 100K to 200K dead from the #coronavirus.

We lost 115K in World War I.

1.There aren't enough ventilators, tests, or masks

Trump has the power to compel private industry to produce more of these through the Defense Production Act

But Trump has been hesitant to use it

Why?

Corporate lobbyists have convinced him not to

2. The
@USChamber is lobbying the administration not to use the Defense Production Act.

Its lobbyists convinced Kushner and Kudlow it was a bad idea.

It's been done quietly, but it's not a secret. You can find the
@USChamber's position on its website

3. But the
@USChamber
is a membership organization. It represents businesses. So if powerful companies who are members speak out against this lobbying campaign, they could stop it

That could increase the chances Trump would act

And it could save lives

4.
@Nike
almost quit the
@USChamber
in 2009 over a dispute about climate change. But it remained so it could "better influence policy."

Now is the time that
@Nike
could make a difference by speaking out against the Chamber's lobbying

NOW IS YOUR CHANCE

But let’s remember that American people — even the damaged souls that you’re laughing at on Twitter today — didn’t pervert the meaning of freedom on their own. The warped modern version of liberty was sold to them, first by right-wing public intellectuals like Ayn Rand, who killed thousands of trees to wrap unbridled selfishness in her endless tomes about freedom, and later by the salesmen of Big Capitalism.

Confronted with scientific realities like man-made climate change, the forces of conservative libertarianism turned their guns toward expertise, with the goals of thwarting environmentalism and keeping corporate profits high. The bills for global warming are starting to come due, but that has been superseded for the time being by the COVID-19 crisis; the lack of trust for medical expertise from Main Street all the way to an ignorant president whom 62 million Main Streeters installed at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. has proved lethal.

Kayleigh McEnany began her press conference today with several minutes of attacks against the credibility of the New York Times for reporting on the Russian bounty scandal.

But just minutes later, defending Trump, she cited... the New York Times.
