It is, its a matter of when he'll get hurt wherever he'll play so trade him while his value is high.

He is better suited for an AL team.

I agree. But you don't just give him away. Not sure what kind of return you'd get right now. But I'd rather us average more than one run a game this season.

Unless another big trade happens (outside of Gattis) I really think the Braves feel they could compete next year for a wild card. If you put Aoki at the top of the lineup then it gets somewhat interesting. You then have a lot of guys that make contact and can defend to go along with a potentially excellent pitching roster. Next year should be mildly entertaining which is a huge upgrade from last year.

If you have the pitching, you can always get a career year or breakout year from a few players and put together a nice season. If not, we can always become sellers in July with guys like Gattis, Grilli, A.J., Callaspo, Russell, Carpenter, and the Johnsons.

I know it will never happen, but I'd be happy with this offseason if we could sign Shields, Moncada, and trade Gattis for some big upside prospects.

Would love to see Gattis go on a tear in camp that carries over into April and have Texas pony up Mazara and Profar or Thompson for him.

Asdrubal Cabrera to Tampa - hey San Francisco, we've got your 3B!!!

Unfortunately KJ would make a lot of sense for them at this point.

They traded for McGehee already

Oh yeah...DUH!!! That's what happens when you check in sporadically while at work. Still think KJ would make a lot of sense for them - could play some in LF and some at 3B to allow McGehee to allow Belt time off as needed.

Don't know about you guys, but I think McGehee's numbers will decline dramatically -not to mention playing 81 games at AT&T (Marlins Park wasn't much better)- as I think his 2014 season was a "fluke".

Hundley to Colorado.

The Orioles apparently offered Hundley a two-year deal as well. We can only hope that them missing out on Hundley will make them more inclined to pony up a solid offer for Gattis.

Asdrubal Cabrera ' s contract with the Rays is reportedly 1 year 7.5 million. Unless he just really wants to play in Florida, which is a realistic possibility, then we should have matched or beaten that deal. Worst case he sucks and we waste 8 million. Odds are he will be better than whoever we have at 2b and 3b.

Why on earth would you "waste" (your word, and the correct one) twice as much money on Cabrera as you spent on Callaspo when you've already waved the white flag on the season??? Cabrera nets you no more at the deadline if both are on 1 year deals.

Hart isn't signing guys like Grilli, Johnson, Outman, etc. JUST because we have money available - EVERY signing has been with an eye towards grinding even more eventual value out by extracting additional prospect depth if at all possible.

They may decline a bit but they did enough of that in the 2nd half.

1st half: 319/386/391/776
2nd half: 243/310/310/620

Which shouldn't of been a surprise as he had a 369 BABIP in the first half. My guess his current steamer projected line of 252/321/354 will be pretty close to what he does

Even though he's really not very good defensively in CF anymore, I wouldn't mind seeing Ichiro signed as the 5th OF. He's arguably not much worse than B. J. out there and could at the very least provide competition for him or platoon with him and could slide over and play RF when Markakis needed a day off. If B. J.'s as bad as he's been, he'd also give you a leadoff option to allow Markakis to move down in the order to make it a little deeper...

CF- Ichiro
SS- Simmons
1B- Freeman
LF- Gomes/Almonte
RF- Markakis
3B- Johnson
2B- Callaspo
C- Bethancourt

I still think the best approach is to have Peterson stewing in Gwinnett until we can keep him from achieving Super Two status. At the very least he'd be nice to have around for Seitzer to point to when working with guys about making contact.
