Biden Drops Out of Race

Should retitle thread to read

"First president ever to drop from nomination because of dementa"

As I see the echos in all of right-wing media about democracy being under attack, I’m going to henceforth only respond to any such argument with ‘lol’. You can’t say he has dementia and that he should stay in the race. Don’t go back and pretend you weren’t calling for the 25th Amendment for the past month non-stop.

Only R’s care about this talking point. Incumbents running uncontested should be a norm that’s done away with. D’s were never given a choice on their candidate.

We had a choice, looks at my NH ballot, we could write in, vote for Dean Phillips.

Then they need to invoke the 25th

like why would anyone? It’s a full admission

Yeah, I just don’t think it much matters if they do. Biden is who he is. If you want to push the issue, I doubt the Senate gets on board, but people may feel free to yell about it.

"If you can be convinced that you cannot defeat Donald Trump, will you stand down?" Stephanopoulos asked.

"It depends on -- on if the Lord Almighty comes down and tells me that, I might do that," Biden said.

He’s here!?

This is why I think Harris as the replacement is a non-starter. While I doubt any would-be voter will care about the primary process once the ticket is set, I do think this is an effective political talking point that will be shouted from the rooftops.

I don’t think it matters. If you are a voter that’s knowledgeable enough about the primary process then that person is probably not an undecided voter. I think these elections are ultimately decided on who is better at driving turnout.

I’d be surprised if Kamala wins. No one (on either side) likes her much. Maybe she drives AA and women turnout. I guess?

What's the right-wing excuse now when Harris beats Trump?

I doubt that happens, but it’s a toss-up between the election was stolen by illegal immigrants voting or procedural objections to this ticket swap that’ll certainly make some people think it’s illegal.

You’re probably right. I suppose my chief issue is that Harris isn’t probably that candidate. I think those candidates exist today, but they’re all currently governors and I think the DNC will play it safe with Harris.

Checking in doe a sneak peak of 57's post tomorrow

I do think the Dems will try to point to Trump being within 4 years of Biden, and while it will be hypocritical bull****, they won’t technically be wrong.

Jo is right. Trump's never been fit for office. After all he is a felon with plenty of public flubs to draw from. I always smile at the fighter jets in the Revolution quip. Just shows how stupid Trump is.

Sounds like Manchin wants in. If the dens were smart they’d back him.

No, no that would not be smart in any way, shape or form. You need to engage your core voters here, not go fishing for right-leaning moderates.
