Biden Drops Out of Race

The secret the DNC is missing (in my opinion) is that you don’t have to worry about which demographics your deeply unpopular candidate is strongest with if you just go with a good candidate instead.

Although if this is the best your guys have got, you’d better hope this coup **** sticks to the wall:

I think they'll find their footing when they uncover very clearly and explicitly that she is a Marxist

I suppose we'll have to wait to see who is gonna be her running mate, but I think Harris is gonna poll even worse than Biden in the rust belt. California's far left policies that she willfully endorsed are not going to deliver well in those states.

I think she'll do somewhat worse in PA/MI/WI and somewhat better in AZ/NV. Not a big difference but 1-2 points. It is not a favorable tradeoff in terms of potential tipping point states (or neutral at best if she picks a rust belt running mate). Shapiro makes the most sense in terms of electoral votes. He can get her PA's 19 votes. But I think Kelly will play better nationally and will get her AZ and maybe NV. I wouldn't underrate the shaved head, ex fighter pilot, ex astronaut appeal. Plus husband of a wife who is a victim of gun violence.

It's gonna be the blandest straightest white person. Newsom, Walz, etc.

I actually think Walz makes a ton of sense, he's older would be viewed as a safer pick, is a resident of the rust belt, has army service, etc. he ticks all the marks of a bland cookie cutter politician.

Kamala's boldest pick would be Bernie. I'd love seeing Sanders stumping vs. Vance. That would be wild.

Bernie is older than Biden. So that wouldn't make sense.

Newsom doesn't make sense because he and Kamala are both Californians. Dems need someone to balance the ticket in a battleground state.

Kelly is the ideal candidate. Very popular in Arizona, is an Astronaut (nobody hates Astronauts), wife was victim of gun violence and assassination attempt herself, parents were police officers.

There is a little bit of a geographical imbalance with Kelly, with both members of the ticket coming from western states. I think he and Shapiro make the most sense. Whitmer has a chance too.

I co sign to the idea that this was simply announced over Twitter, and no other evidence of Bidens involvement, is weird. It's being reported his staff is communicating the news to his other staff.

Just weird.

It’s not really how this is done.

Arizona is a western state, but it's full of midwest transplants.

Kelly is the type of guy that plays well in the midwest, southeast, etc. Just like McCain being from AZ helped him in other regions of the country.

Kelly also has more name recognition than Shapiro. Both have zero baggage.

We'll just have to see how strong the Anti-Trump vote is this go around.

A lot of people have openly said for the last year (even 4 years ago) that the fact we had these two candidates (Biden and Trump) was nothing to be that enthusiastic about. Two older men both in their 80's/pushing 80 (Trump is almost there).

So now that someone much younger will be running against Trump, will be interested to see if those same people who complained about two old guys who could barely formulate sentences are our options for President two cycles in a row, will change their tune since whomever the Dems nominate (whether it's Harris or someone else), will be a decade or two younger than Trump.

Harris is 59. Trump is almost 80.

Mark Kelly:

Born and raised in New Jersey (East Coast).
Parents were both police officers.
Bachelors+Masters in Engineering.
Wasn't a lawyer.
Wife herself was target of an assassination attempt and survived.
Served in the Military for 25 years and is highly decorated.
Serves in a battleground state (Arizona).
Astronaut (again, nobody hates Astronauts)

That checks pretty much most of the boxes the Dems need to balance the ticket.
