Biden Drops Out of Race

Obviously he’s not my match policy wise, but I like Mark Kelly

In a time of political polarization, that's pretty much what the Dems need right now.

Can argue that's what the country needs. He probably doesn't fit the Maverick mold McCain had, but when you look at Kelly's career, you there isn't much negative you can say about him.

But he's not gonna be at the top of the ticket. But he's probably the best guy you could trot out there in the Midwest and Northeast, tell his story and use his likability to help Harris on the ticket. Georgia has enough transplants from all over the country that you could have him do stump speeches there and pick off some voters as well.

Bernie is older than Biden. So that wouldn't make sense.

Newsom doesn't make sense because he and Kamala are both Californians. Dems need someone to balance the ticket in a battleground state.

Kelly is the ideal candidate. Very popular in Arizona, is an Astronaut (nobody hates Astronauts), wife was victim of gun violence and assassination attempt herself, parents were police officers.

There is a quirk that electors from a state can't vote for a ticket if both members are from the same state. So Newsom is out otherwise they would essentially forfeit california.

I love all the conspiracy theories on twitter on why Barack, Schumer, Jeffries, Pelosi haven't endorsed Harris yet but Clinton, Kerry, and other current senators/house members have.

Clintons and Kerry are retired now. Their endorsement is a message to the older voters of the party, the blue dogs who will have a higher turnout anyways.

Schumer is senate majority leader, Jeffries is House Minority leader, and Pelosi is a 2x Speaker of the House, and she's still actively serving and still has some political clout.

The obvious answer (I guess it's not obvious to anyone who doesn't understand political optics and strategy), is Obama is the biggest endorsement Harris could get, bigger than Biden's. The DNC Convention is this week. Party Conventions are just as much political theatrics as anything else. THis isn't anything new. Any sane President would endorse their vice president. Biden endorsing Harris isn't breaking news. Trump is the only person who would leave his vice president out to dry, look at what he did to Pence lol. Considering JD Vance was a huge Never Trumper, it wouldn't surprise me if things go sour that Trump throws him under the bus almost immediately.

2008 the convention was used to unite the party. The big story was getting the Clintons to unite the party and get behind Barack. That's how it played out.

Obama is still very popular amongst millenials and young Dem voters, many who weren't even old enough to vote for him back then but are of voting age now. Now that Barack isn't going to give the usual stump speech at the convention for Biden, his speech will probably have millions more viewers tuned in to see how he endorses Kamala. Again, it's political theatrics, and it's something both parties use the conventions for. To tell a story, just like WWE does in wrestling.

We'll see how polls respond to the news. But I honestly think it's a big task to move voters 100 days till election when they haven't heard a word of your policy.

But I do this move is savvy in that it will do better for them down ballot.

Mark Kelly:

Born and raised in New Jersey (East Coast).
Parents were both police officers.
Bachelors+Masters in Engineering.
Wasn't a lawyer.
Wife herself was target of an assassination attempt and survived.
Served in the Military for 25 years and is highly decorated.
Serves in a battleground state (Arizona).
Astronaut (again, nobody hates Astronauts)

That checks pretty much most of the boxes the Dems need to balance the ticket.

Mark Kelly isn't a bad choice in theory, but choosing him makes them vulnerable in the Senate. Not sure they would take that sort of chance with the odds stacked against them currently.

Shapiro or Whitmer seem like the strongest/safest choices.

I doubt that happens, but it’s a toss-up between the election was stolen by illegal immigrants voting or procedural objections to this ticket swap that’ll certainly make some people think it’s illegal.

Love how the left mocks that they haven’t been completely cheating at elections (even ignoring ballot harvesting shenanigans). I’m sure Russia hoax / kavanbaugh rape / Russian disinformation / Trump lawfare / assassinatikn wasn’t intended to be election interference. All coincidences.

I do think the Dems will try to point to Trump being within 4 years of Biden, and while it will be hypocritical bull****, they won’t technically be wrong.

Only Trump shows vigor every step of the way. Voters won’t buy it. At least the ones that matter

I suppose we'll have to wait to see who is gonna be her running mate, but I think Harris is gonna poll even worse than Biden in the rust belt. California's far left policies that she willfully endorsed are not going to deliver well in those states.

And they have no good story to step over Harris. It’s going to be a ****show for democrats this cycle. Harris will be their sacrificial lamb as they regroup for 26/28.

The whole Democrat brand is now tied to lying about Biden’s cognitive ability and the disaster we have seen for 3.5 years. Nobody is saving the left in this election.

Any candidate would have bailed years ago.

Guy was shot and people still want to pretend the system isn’t corrupt.

It’s going to be an absolute bloodbath. Especially when Harris is forced to talk more in public.

Could not make an easier opponent for Trump to crush. Let’s talk about Jussie Smollett reaction now to right? Donating to BLM bail funds

My god this could not work out any better.

Laptop Shmaptop

Has Hunter seen his 15 minutes expire?
All the time (R) spent focusing on that nonsense when they
could have been explaining Trump's plan to replace ACA or detailing
their infrastructure plans.
Oh well.

My reading this past week says it is Buttigieg's if he accepts
the offer

Mayor Pete would get crushed so badly in southern and rust Belt states. Oh please please please run him.

How does white gay man vs black straight woman work in the lefts DEI hierarchy though?
