BILLY HAMILTON IS A BRAVE

He’s getting Gausman’s money, as it were.

At the very least, this is a sign Gausman’s waiving wasn’t necessarily a reflection of dire financial position.

I was afraid this would happen, and really hoping it wouldn't. Snitker will absolutely overuse him (which is actually really easy to do in his case, as it just entails allowing him to touch a bat even once).

All things considered I have no problem with this move.

I don't have a problem with bringing him aboard, my curiosity is with why they gave KC all the money, when the Dodgers weren't likely to get him....

However, I could be mistaken on the claims process....does everyone have to put their claim in at the same time and the first in the order get him? Or does it go down the list of worst to first and every team has to pass before your team can make their decision?

I think we know what Snit will be chewed out about in his September meeting with the FO after he gives Hamilton 50 PAs in the 2nd half of August.

I believe it’s the latter, and I believe if you claim someone you assume the entire remaining contract.

You do assume the remaining contract. So the Braves are on the hook for the remainder of his $5+m deal plus $1m buyout...(mutual option after this season)

I was wondering more of when teams have to actually put the claim in and what order that happens in...I know it goes in order of team with the worst record in their league to best record, then same for the other league.

Complementary moves, per TC:

The Braves opened up a spot on the 40-man roster for Hamilton by recalling RHP Jacob Webb from Gwinnett and placing him on the 60-day injured list with a right elbow impingement. The team opened up a spot on the active roster by optioning RHP Bryse Wilson back to Gwinnett.
