BILLY HAMILTON IS A BRAVE

I hoped this would happen when he became available, but then someone reminded me that Lane Adams had been signed. I think with Adams and Ortego Hamilton was unnecessary, but we've seen the value of depth this year.

AA has a track record of going for strong defense, so even when you have a good back-up defensively in Ortego in CF and good speed off the bench in Adams. If you can do even better at both in one player that makes sense to do, esp. with the Ender injury. Plus if Ortego stops hitting now we can just DFA him and not worrying about losing a good back-up for CF.

I meant Ortego could cover CF and Adams could run. But I agree Hamilton is superior to either.

I knew what you meant and you are right. But Hamilton does both better and gives you that in one player instead of two. Not that Adams is bad in CF or that Ortego cannot steal a base. Both are okay options there too, but not plus plus options.

If Snit needs to find the solution path to any adaptive dynamic programming problems this post-season, the Hamiltonian should be useful.

Who would have thought in 2019 we'd still be debating Adams vs Hamilton.

Well, to be accurate it's the tag-team of Ortega and Adams vs Hamilton. Adams was counted out already so Hamilton won. But Ortega is hoping his bat keeps him around as they no longer need him to back-up CF.

No issues with this signing. No risk and probably not much reward, but there is a benefit that can be had. Go get em, Billy!
