Allard has value. He’s 21 and cheap. I think he could be a fifth starter or a long guy.

I get we need room in aaa for pitchers. I get there are 40 man issues.

I’d deal him in a heart beat. I just didn’t think rental reliever when Stroman just went for two 45s.

This deal makes me think aa was going to release him next year or leave him unprotected in rule 5.

I think you’re right that Anthopoulos simply did not see him as a likely near-term contributor to the MLB team (whether this year or next), and thus valued an overlooked rental reliever and 40-man flexibility over Allard’s 2019 and 2020 innings in AAA.

Allard was on the 40 man roster last year or needed to be. So AA just got him off it. No big deal to me. Maybe an overpay but i dont think Allard was ever gonna pitch again for the Braves, so get a valuable piece back.
