Braves Acquire Freddy Garcia from Orioles

The Braves' twitter and Bowman both confirm this as well. He is being assigned to AAA. Decent insurance in case Beachy is actually in trouble with his Elbow; even though he said he is confident that he will pitch again this year.

These are the options you have when you ignore a depth weakness. Not horrible, considering. Hope Maholm can turn it around.

So could I, but I don't think anyone wants to see me on the hill.
No, I would prefer to see someone whom could actually pitch, i.e. Garcia. He isn't the ideal option, but with what is out there... he is probably the best we could get. With Huddy and now potentially Beachy down... and the lack of ML ready depth, getting Garcia is better than what we have for a backup.

I love how people freak out over depth moves. There's no harm at all in this. He's in AAA in case of a worst case scenario and will most likely be a long reliever in September with maybe a spot start.

Yes, he's insurance. No, it doesn't matter if he bombs. But I'd still prefer the Braves trade for a high-risk, high-reward type like Bedard, or sign any of the dozen or so intriguing minor league free agents out there.

In his first start with Baltimore this season he carried a no hitter or perfect game through five innings.

Why?

Nah, I don't have an issue with depth moves at all. But, the Braves probably have several players in the org that could pitch better. Heck, trade for a Haren type (who has been on fire)

Maybe a depth move. We have better pitchers in the minors. If we need someone to make a start or two, both Hale and Poveda would be better than Garcia.
