I also think the Pirates did well.
They did well getting Archer and Kela but Meadows/Glasnow is a steep cost for Archer.

I loved what the Pirates got Kela for, but man that is a steep price for Archer. Not a huge fan of that one.
A+ deadline from AA
A+ deadline from AA
I'm not sure the Pirates are better now with Archer than they were with Glasnow and Meadows.
Nice deal, nice deadline. I really appreciate AA’s restraint. We got legit better without giving up anything of note. I kinda had a prospect crush on JCE, but his K/BB numbers are pretty scary.
I give him a B.
An A would have required him to do all the current trades, but also adding a LHH for 3B.
The BP additions were also pretty underwhelming, especially considering what some of the better arms were traded for. Better BP arms in addition to the Gausman/Duvall trades would have been an A+.
Kela would have been a nice fit and the price didn't look bad to me, but I have a hard time believing AA didn't know what he would cost when ue seemed to be involved with everyone.
I do think replacing two quad A arms with genuine MLB relievers will improve 4 or 5 of our bullpen slots. It should be an exciting second half.

A+ is likely too high of a grade but I like that no real prospects were traded and he made good use of slot money. He did get controllable assets that can help us this year and beyond and we still have all our major trade chips for the offseason too.
