Braves Acquire Robinson Cano

Arcia has been worth 0.3 fwar in 38 games, and actually been a little unlucky with balls in play, sporting a .311 woba versus a .345 xwoba, supported by his seeming improvements in quality of contact (career-highs 90.4 EV, 6.5% barrel%, and 45.7% hard-hit). He's also graded out quite well at 2B (versus okay at SS and bad in the OF).

Canó has been worth -0.9 in only 24 games, and was pretty bad at everything during his two MLB stints.

I'll certainly be excited to have the Little King back in action, irrespective of what other 2B pretenders might be on the roster. But it can certainly get a lot worse than Arcia, and—echoing MFII—there's no great reason to think Canó represents an upgrade, as funny as his turnaround might be in chasing down the Mets. He's indeed probably washed as hell—but it looks like we're going to find out quickly.

Cano hitting at AAA does intrigue me though. Hopefully he just needed some more PA to get going after a long lay off

lol please

Hey, the guy does 14 things on his way around the bases on a dinger (and occasionally a double off the wall) and he's been Cadillacking balls left and right on defense. He jogs out grounders, he rolls his eyes and pouts on every pop up (and there have been a lot of them lately). I don't need to see it anymore. Play ball.

And get off my lawn.

Ford gone too, so it's not like they chose Ford over Gosselin.

Ford was the one with the option left, so there wasn't much of a choice to be made there with Duvall activated as well I guess - didn't expect him to be back quite so quick (particularly since he wasn't going to be in the lineup with Scherzer on the mound).

He's just adding a little spice to the game.

I'm sorry for what he did to your lawn, though. That large, tilde-shaped dead-patch will grow back eventually.

Do the Mets use a lot of lh relievers?

He’s not running out grounders because the team told him not to exert himself uncessarily. Though, I will agree that ball he let drop two feet in front of him when all he had to do was throw his glove out the other day was inexcusable. But he has looked hesitant and awkward on defense, and I think it’s the PTSD from his devastating injury still affecting him.

And I buy some of the PTSD. But I do think there ain't enough mustard in the world to cover that hot dog. I remember my dad making similar comments about Willie Mays when I was just a little dogcatcher, so there's probably a little apple-tree thing going on.
