Braves expecting to make QO to Santana.

It suits me if he rejects it. We can find a couple of guys for less money and have the pick as well.

The distressing thing is sites like MLBTR and BP have the Braves signing much worse options for the rotation and OF than I had hoped. Denorfia and Colby Lewis according to one site, Volquez and Boni according to the other.

I don't think those acquisitions will be enough to get the Braves into the playoffs next year.

Ervin might be wise to decline the offer. The market has three very good starting pitchers that headline this free agent class. You know a team is going to want a top flight guy, but miss out on him. They may be willing to throw a ton of money at the next level starting pitcher. Ervin fits that bill in my opinion. Not sure which team, but I could see a 3 year deal worth 48 million.

Even Jason Vargas got 4 years 32 million, and Jeremy Guthrie got 3 years 25 million. I don't see how he should have a problem cashing in

Jon Heyman of CBS Sports writes that the Royals will "take a look" at free agent Ervin Santana.

Santana is expected to reject a one-year, $15.3 million qualifying offer from the Braves, which would once again tie his free agency to draft pick compensation. That killed his market last winter, and the penny-pinching Royals are probably thinking that he will once again come cheap. The right-hander had a tremendous year for Kansas City in 2013.
