Braves extent Ozzie!

Passan just confimed 7/35 with two club options.

Doesnt say how much they are.

Sherman says the club options are 7 mil with 4 mil buyout. It's 9/45 if all picked up. Thats just insane.

This could set us up for a very long window of contention where we can probably afford to bring in more talent within our budget.

If it's 7/35 with 2 options, he should fire his agent. That's a terrible deal for him, at least the Acuna deal is somewhat fair.

That's crazy! Happy for us but I feel that if Ozzie is close to what he could be, he'll be undervalued for 3-4 years...

Wow...Are agents telling these kids that salaries have peaked and will be going down.

I'm not complaing at all. I'm just surprised

Ozzie extension comes in at about half of what it cost to extend Acuna...exactly as expected for months and months now.

Now that Acuna is locked up, it stands to reason Albies could be next. Here is a breakdown of what he will potentially earn during the rest of his team control:

So the Braves are looking at something like $15M-$20M to lock him up through his control years and age 26, and then buying 1-2 FA years for around $12M each...and apparently super cheap options after that since that's the value voodoo magic AA is able to work on young stars.

$7M per FA year is...insanely good value.

Glad to see this get done.

This deal keeps Ozzie and Acuna together for the same years assuming both options are picked up.

Yeah this contract seems crazy, but I don't think you can discount the fact that him and Acuna are best buds and seem to love playing for the Braves. Still 5 mil a year for Ozzie for 9 years is pretty absurd.

I mean. Albies is selling his free agent years at the current cost of ~1 WAR. It's less than what Ender will make. Lol

If it's 7/35 and then each option year is picked up for 7 million each, doesn't that push the deal to 9/49, not 9/45?

Also, I've read this deal starts this year, in 2019. Can anyone confirm?
