Braves interested in Chris Sale...

Chris Cotillo ‏@ChrisCotillo
Braves are looking at controllable starters on this market and may have pieces to get Sale. Six prospects in BA's midseason top 100.

First of all, he hasn't been near as good this year... his ERA (since you love that stat) is up and his K-rate is significantly down. He's still limiting walks, so that's good. But he has not been a top 3-5 pitcher this year. Plus, no its not a lock at all that our farm system has 3-5 major league hitters in it... that's why it would be stupid to trade either of the 2 most likely to fit the bill for pitching.

Did I ever say I wanted to pursue this trade that obviously has zero chance of happening. All I said is that I would take a proven player over a prospect. I don't care if the Braves trade for Sale or not. It makes no difference to me.

I guess we don't know for sure that the Sox aren't looking for pitching prospects rather than hitting prospects... would just seem to make more sense if they are trading a controllable starter.

David Price was a proven player....

You seem to hype up the Rangers alot, second team?

:HeywardWut:

No they're not my second team like the Yankees are for you. I do watch a lot of MLB games and a lot of minor league baseball and follow twitter, MLBTR, etc. Further, I was actually hoping Houston won the AL West last year as I'm a fan of some of their players, yes Gattis included. But even Houston isn't a second team for me anymore than the A's were when I watched them a lot the year before Beane sold off Donaldson and co.

PS: I am still a Gattis fan, homie has two bombs and 4 RBI's tonight. Plus he's throwing out runners at a very good rate this year, etc.

I like Chris Cotillo but he thought the Braves could trade AJP recently. So I am not sure about how much here is speculation without sources. Anyone that thinks AJP is wanted by another team is crazy and not following this year.

JFYI, I am referencing these tweets: Chris Cotillo ‏@ChrisCotillo 44m 44 minutes ago
Source: AJ Pierzynski is available in trades. Deal possible. #Braves

Industry insiders believe Braves are adding depth in case of a Pierzynski trade. Nothing close on AJ, per source.

Source: Braves signing catcher Michael McKenry to minor-league deal.

Chris Cotillo ‏@ChrisCotillo 44m 44 minutes ago
To recap: Braves have signed George Kottaras and Michael McKenry as depth options. AJ Pierzynski deal may come soon.

Someone as bad as Bill Shanks called out those tweets noting the obvious. No way AJP is traded, released is possible. But no one wants him in a trade.

Exactly the Braves need hitter not give them away. Here's what I'd offer.

Inciarte, Wisler, Blair, Ruiz and Fried for Sale

I'd give up mostly pitching but I still expect them to want more hitters. I don't see us making a trade for Sale without losing Swanson and/or Albies. They may even ask for both given what they've already turned down for Sale and are asking from Texas.

I mean if they turned down Gallo/Profar, cant imagine how we'd get a deal done without dealing Dansby/Ozzie with pitching.

I couldn't be more opposed to trading for Chris Sale right now. We aren't close to winning anything, and it would hurt us 3-4 years from now.

Stay the course and keep building the farm to an ungodly level.

I wouldnt mind buying if we can get a controllable bat or SP depending on the cost.

yeah but sales gonna cost way too much

if you do something like trade teheran and viz but then trade for a gray or sale that i guess im more ok with but just a sale trade now. plus the jersey story sounds nuts, he sounds nuts.

That would be my concern with trading off Swanson and/or Albies in a big package for Sale.

I wasnt talking about getting Sale.

I was talking about Odiorizi or Archer or someone else much cheaper than Sale would be.

Trading either would be extremely stupid. This front office is a joke if they think we are going to compete for the playoffs next year unless we spend a boatload of cash this winter.

We are 2 years away at best.

Well to be fair, we really have no idea for sure what was offered and/or turned down

We could say that about anything reported, but we do have from MLBTR the Rangers beat writer saying this: SATURDAY, 7:52pm: The Rangers are currently unwilling to trade Mazara for Sale, but they’re open to dealing Gallo, Profar and some of their pitching prospects, per Sullivan.
