Braves "Kick Tires" on Dozier

I'm encouraged by Coppys ability to get into the discussion for all these players. I'm not willing to give up anything big for Dozier since Albies is waiting in the wings.

Can Dozier play third base?

Twins are not being unreasonable in wanting a bit more than just DeLeon.

Especially since the Dodgers are in win now mode and 2B is a position of need. Twins don't have to trade Dozier and are in the drivers seat here. I bet it ends up being DeLeon plus others.

Oh, come on.

It is true that our first wave of pitching prospects have disappointed to a degree. Getting 3 veteran starters was not the planned course of action a year ago. We do have a lot of high quality pitching prospects but they are just that right now. Trading them off for someone like Dozier would be a poor play imo.

I just don't see it as they have disappointing. More like that they aren't ready at this time. THe real talent was always Newcomb and down. Blair/Wisler and those ilk were always going to be temporary stop gaps. Braves have money and decided to stop gap with better options for the opening season.

Blair and Wisler were both top 50 prospects by various sources. So if those guys are temporary stop gaps then we might be looking awhile for our future rotation.

Wisler was losing his luster already. Blair just had a rough first go at the big leagues. He clearly was rushed and needed more time.

So if anything Wisler disapionted and not Blair.

He lost his luster after we traded for him, yes. Was #44 in 2014 and then #34 when we traded for him. Still if top 50 prospects are stop gaps we are going to be waiting for awhile. Both were expected to hold down rotation spots and be equal to what Colon and Dickey are being brought in to do.

Yup. By this time next year I think we are going to have more starting pitching candidates than we will know what to do with. There will be trades.

I predict we will trade FOR at least one major league starting pitcher between now and this time next year.
